It was a hotel in need of a LOT of help. The smell that hits you when you walk in the front door is gross and stomach turning. We stayed only because there was no place else to go within 45 minutes! The gentleman at the front desk was friendly, and extremely helpful! I explained my need for a a comfortable bed and heat that night due to back issues, and without me giving him any more details, he offered to take my bags and show me to my room where he would also show me how to use their heating system! Generally, this is explained to me briefly by the night auditor- and in a rude 'I hate working this time of the year' tone (in my past holiday travel experiences!). On our way up, he answered a quick question for another hotel guest with the same sincerity. I slept extremely well that night, and felt well enough to have used the fitness center had of not forgotten to pack my sneakers :-) Their is a large breakfast selection, the room was very clean and other staff seemed happy to be working there and motivated as well! The location was convenient (by car) to Ithaca College, to town and to nearby shopping. Parking was conveniently close to our room. The hotel featured a decent breakfast in a nice room adjacent to the Front Desk. Our room was clean and neat, good enough for the one night we stayed. Although there were nearby places to eat, we chose to go into Ithaca for dinner at a nice restaurant. The location is perfect. It was a 3 minute drive to Cornell. The staff was fabulous and had maps of the area. We saw all of the waterfalls (with the front desk clerks help with directions!) This was a wonderful stay and $50 cheaper then the other downtown hotels PER NIGHT! I had requested first floor, they gave me second and were able to give me first floor on request. Room was clean, in good repair, beds comfortable. Room was at the end of the motel near the road but with the windows closed it did not cause a noise / sleeping problem. Breakfast was okay... cereal, bagels, toast, juice, coffee. Not fancy but good value. The Wegmans grocery store across the street (can walk to it) is huge and has everything you can imagine.
