Would not go back

We've just returned from a week at this hotel (with Peltours), and would not return. Positive things about the holiday were the lovely weather (once you got out of the wind!), the staff (very friendly and helpful) and on the whole, the buffet-style food was excellent, with lots of variety and all very fresh. However, we were disappointed to find no local towns/villages to explore - Taba itself is almost empty of shops and has nothing to attract visitors. The resort really is just a group of hotels and nothing else.

Our hotel room was very clean, but fairly small for myself, my husband and our 8 & 10 year old - one week was enough! The hotel itself had a very 'tired' feeling about it, with masses of unused 'dead' space. I think more could have been on offer for families with young children after beach hours.

Having spent a similar week this time last year in Sharm el Sheikh (with Longwood), but half board, there is no comparison, we'd go back to Sharm definitely, but not to Taba. Everything was better last year, including the tour operator and the airlines too (Monarch last year, Astraeus this year). The transfer (45 mins) is not great if you have travel sickness - lots of windy mountain roads and no air con!

For all of the above, we did had a lovely family week, but you live and learn!

As soon as we got there they make it seem as if your at home. the service was excellent they did whatever you wanted and we even made a few friends the room was very nice and had an amazing view!!! the loacation was surrounded by 4 other countries. there were many great trips you could take and we had our own provate beach area
they was also a place where you could just walk into the sea and snorkel. We had a few massages at the spa too.
Very relaxing
OVERALL EXCELLENT!

just returned from the sofitel taba. myself my husband and our 15yr daughter.we went for 2 weeks.the staff could not do enough for us and the service and courtessy were second to none. the hotel was spotless the food excellent, and location beautiful.we went on 3 trips which meant an early start but these were well organised and although we were a bit bothered about our safety before we went security was very good and we never felt threatened even at the pyramids.we visited petra in jordon which was well worth seeing but i think visiters should be warned about the uphill walk back, i have never been so exhausted, but it was 50 degrees.
we spent alot of time on the lovely hotel beach snorkling in the red sea or cooling off in fab pools. entertainment at night was a bit basic but that suited us as we dont like the butlins type of atmosphere it was very traditional.even our teenage daughter cant wait to go back and next year we are taking our other daughter and husband we cant wait!

Not what i expected

On my first evening arriving at the sofitel it was amazing everything was beautiful and spotless i thought we were going to have an amazing holiday. The staff at the sofitel were always so friendly and helpful except for if you wanted to play tennis or have a coke before 11 o clock, things like this frustrated me when we were there we wanted to play tennis it was half ten and we couldnt play until half 12 or reserve it for us so we gave up in the end. they are very strict on there time limits and i couldnt understand why they had these rules. so we got a bit bored during the day the only thing for us to do was sunbath and trust me im a girl of 19 but there is only so much sunbathing you can do. there was the excursions of course but our rep was like trying to draw blood out of a stone she wasnt the best. it was also a big mistake going off of the resort on the shuttl bus to the "town centre". there was practically nothing there or people it was like walking into a ghost town. so the location was not great. the room was very nice and our cleaner was very friendly. i wouldnt go there again if i did only for the excellent service from there staff.

chilled out

This hotel is fab, graet food, brilliant service, fantastic staff, lovely rooms. interesting entertainment! (funny as)
there are 4 pools and the best red sea swimming area in Taba (just off the small pier). Its just like being in a tropical fish tank. (keep an eye out for the lion fish, they can sting!)

Although the tour companies arrange a number of trips (I can recomend the blue whole and quad biking) this is very much a hotel based holiday. I found this a bit hard to get used to, but once you relax into it this is a very chilled holiday.

Returning in March

From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. A great place to do nothing, or to take advantage of the number of excusions on offer. The Manager strolled around the hotel and grounds daily chatting to his guests. Having stayed in a number of hotels around the world this was a first.

Food excellant - plenty of choice. Rooms clean with plenty of storage. All the staff were cheerful and attentive. The evening entertainment was bad enough to be enjoyable.

i need to live there

i have been to taba twice and cant wait to go back! Made friends over there with the staff and we have kept in touch. It is so beautiful there, and quiet. If you want to get away from it all, but still have shops, bars, dancing, etc, then this place is fantasic. Excellent service, very clean, friendly staff. Too hot in June, too windy in Feb, March, georgeous in April. Love the food and general atmosphere. I would recomend Taba and Sofitel to anyone.

Best holiday we have ever had!

A little slice of paradise!! Fantastic holiday, hotel was out of this world!! The staff are the friendliest people we have ever encountered - nothing is too much trouble for them. The food was superb, all inclusive was excellent, plenty of choice and nothing was repeated on the menu. The pools were wonderful and i would recommend the aqua aerobic, especially the dancing at the end!!!!! The childrens club was great and my youngest daughter still talks about mimi constantly!! We had a fantastic holiday doing absolutely nothing and actually felt more festive celebrating christmas in egypt than if we had stayed at home!!!!We made alot of friends and cried when we left but we have already started planning next xmas in the sofitel!!!!
