Online, there were room rates for $125/night. I printed the page to check-in with. I was not allowed that rate at the counter. The best I could get was $179/night. I was told I could use their free wireless internet to book it online. This amen

This Sheraton is in a beautiful setting

This Sheraton is in a beautiful setting and the grounds are kept up perfectly. Although it is one of the "older" hotels in the area, it has a very comfortable feel to it and is not "corporate" or stuffy. Our room was clean and quiet and the housekeeping service took care of our room with special touches that we did not ask for. Guest services were great in helping us find several places we wanted to visit. We used the free internet/computer access in the lobby. The pool and koi ponds were relaxing and we soaked in the whirlpool/spa each night of our stay. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant one morning that would be rated good, but kind of pricey. We would definately stay there again.

While this hotel is perfectly fine, it lacks the attention and care it gave when it was a Radisson. We had a power outage one night, and they didn't even give us an explanation. Flooding in the hallway, non-operating elevator, fee for business center, all of these add up to an average experience. I have stayed here many times, this may be my last. They put us in the furthest room they could find, with all the families with children, while the better wing was unoccupied for the week. These are much smaller rooms, and although I am a preferred member of their club, I saved so much online that I didn't use my direct reservation discount. They also neglected to provide my bill on my final day, something they guarantee to do.

Service is subpar. Almost like they're trained to think "the customer is wrong until proven otherwise." The only thing in favor of this hotel is its location.

"Vacation" Inflation

We had an unexpected extended stay (not a vacation) due to problems with university housing and the rates continually went up.

Pros: Clean room; nice staff (excepting one haughty desk clerk); safe feeling area; well lit; pretty garden with waterfall and fish pond, easy walk to restaurants and stores and UCSD

Cons: Price hikes; much of the staff does not speak English, which is probably common for San Diego hotels; though the rooms were nonsmoking, ashtrays were present at the doorways to the halls, which encouraged smoking at the entrances and would pull the smoke into the hallway and into the rooms, a big problem for an asthmatic; really odd smelling cleaner or disinfectant spray

My dad stays here every time he comes to La Jolla to visit me. The location is really convenient for those visiting UCSD.
If you have the VIP standing you have access to their lounge which has a nice selection of fresh fruit and appetizers. The cookies that they give out when you check in are really good too.

Great beds and the pull out couch was fairly comfrontable. Staff is very accommodating. Anything we asked for was brought immediately. Pool and hot tub were soooooo nice. Beautiful landscaping. Very close to everything without feeling your in the middle of town. Will stay there again when we return to La Jolla. Could use some type of fan in the excercise room for those of us not use to the humidity. Enjoyed the microwave, coffee pot and lighted magnifiing mirror. Great touches. Overall a very pleasent stay.

What a lovely, comfortable room! The beds were the best I've ever slept on! Great having a large flat-screen tv, microwave, and coffee maker. I especially liked the lighted make-up mirror in the bathroom! We looked at similarly-priced hotels in the area, but the amenities and quality of this hotel far exceeded them. Beautiful grounds, too, with plantation shutters looking out on. Couldn't be happier.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The property is great-it is not your typical high rise hotel and felt like you are in a resort. Every meal in the restaurant was very good.

I stayed at this hotel for almost two weeks. The staff is warm and friendly. I certainly appreciate all of their help with directions and questions I had about attractions nearby. The beds are very comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again.
