Appalling ineptitude

pros: The room is attractive and cleanNever before have I been treated like this in a "Business Class" hotel. With the name "Sheraton" one expects some professionalism. Not in our experience - we came for business - - and found this place short on class.
We made a reservation a week prior to an expo at The Sheraton Bloomington in March '09. When we arrived (having failed to bring the confirmation number but who ever needs one?) we were told we didn't have a reservation. After being repeatedly asked if I could have spelled my name wrong (??!!) or if I might have used another name (??!!) we were given a room at the "group rate".
The room itself was adequate and clean - but there were no washcloths AT ALL; the bottled water was a $3.95 room charge; internet was extra; the paper was extra and the hair dryer on the wall didn't work. We received another hair dryer - but the wash cloths never did arrive.
Upon returning home I called the hotel with my confirmation number and the interesting fact that I paid five dollars more upon checkout than I was quoted at the time I made the reservation. Three times I was put on hold. Three times I spoke to different persons before being told they would call back. The moral of the story is they never did find my reservation OR confirmation number and the price originally quoted "was a mistake".
Actually - the mistake was in staying there at all. Beware!! If you are willing to risk it: take your confirmation number (though it might not help you) and be sure you know how to spell your own name. OR - - better yet just stay somewhere else!

I really enjoyed my recent stay here. It has a very warm and comfortable feeling. I was in town to visit family and they came over for a while. There is a main lobby and several other seating areas throughout the hotel that offer couches and arm chairs. The bed was excellent. My 6 year-old niece came over and she loved the pool. It is a large indoor pool with an extremely large whirlpool. It looks like it can fit 30 people. I had a guest room that was pool-side and it had a balcony overlooking the indoor pool.

We stayed only two days. Stayed on 18th

We stayed only two days. Stayed on 18th floor. The first day was fine but the next day was horrible. We awoke at 5:00 a.m. to get ready to depart the hotel and head to the airport to catch our early flight. Well we had no hot water! The day before we had no hot water problems. We let the water run in hopes is would get hot and called the front desk who sent up someone. The repair man left our room and about 10 minutes later called to say they needed to turn up the temp on the water tank. So we decide to just sponge bath and head to the airport. Manager offers us a free night stay I advise manager that would be fine if it is good at all Sheraton's because we have no plans in the future to be in Minneapolis. Manager said no it is only good at their hotel! Next time we vacation you can bet we will not be staying at a Sheraton!
The walls are "very" thin. We could here the guy in the next room clearing his throat. The people up stairs opening the curtains and walking across the floors. Bathroom is very small. I could sit on the toilet and put my feet on the wall in front of me and at the same time touch the wall next too me!

I have gone to this physical hotel every Easter for the last twenty years. It has improved in every way except the hotel restaurant. The old restaurant was nice, reliable and it had six different types of pickled herring. The new restaurant is expensive and the food is inedible.
