I made reservations for wedding 2-3 weeks out. When I made the reservation, I was given the rate and was told a confirmation would be sent to me. Since there were supposed to be "special" rates for this wedding, I questioned the operator since the rate she gave me was the same as the website (199.00). Nope she told me, this was the rate.

I got no confirmation and called back today, 3 days before the wedding to check on my reservation. Chris confirmed my reservation and when I asked about the rate, he said since I didn't book a month or more ahead of time, the "special" rate didn't apply to me...what crap.. I have never even been to this resort, but already I have a poor opinion of its customer service. The bride is a close friend and I would never bring this up during this great time, but if you plan on staying at this place, make sure you understand that whatever pricing they give you is probably a limited time offer.

Hotel has been remodeled and is good. Not Blockade Runner. Beach is better. Rooms are good, but you need to know which ones to ask for. Each unit is privetly owned. We like unit 612. There are several others, unfortuntely, I don't have the num

Beach was great. The room was not!!

The room was not very good. The hideabed was over 20 years old and the spring mattress was terrible. My kids had to sleep on the floor. There was no marsh view from our room. Just the parking garage. Horns honking from 6 AM on. Unable to sleep in. The water had a funky smell. The room had not been updated in a long time. I was told the rooms are owned by individuals and each room is maintained differently. The beach was great and the restaurant was not over priced.

Stay Away!!!

This place was the most disgusting "hotel" I have ever stayed in. The rooms were sticky - the furniture, carpet, bed- all seemed to be covered in mysterious stains and a sticky glaze. The towels in the bathroom had what I can only hope were make-up stains on them. The tub backed up when we took a shower. If I didn't have to stay there for a wedding I was attending, I would have walked right out.

Do yourself a favor and stay at the Holiday Inn right down the street. Several people from the wedding party moved over there and reported that it was 100 times better than Shell Island.

Not Worth the Price

The service was great, BUT, for $400+ for two nights, the room didn't really warrant that. It was pretty much your basic quality room, not the "luxury" they describe online, just bigger.

The bathroom door didn't lock, toilet plumbing quality varied, the water had a very odd scent, the walls had scuffs/scratches, the room was not very up-to-date in terms of decor (minor detail I guess), I killed spiders and roaches within my 36hr stay, the wi-fi is pretty inconvenient, as you need to go get a box at the front desk and be plugged into it. The WORST part was having a non-smoking room right next to a smoking room, with, apparently, really thin walls... So our room stunk to high heaven of smoke. Plus, because the walls were thin, you could hear the neighbors (who weren't all that loud) anytime they were in their room.

The location is good for a more private end of the beach and still within 10-15mins of decent retail/restaraunts, but the room itself was a big disappointment to me.

Nice location, but the service was horrible! The staff were inconsiderate and unwilling to help.

I am going there every year!!!

I suprised my boyfriend with a trip to Wrightsville Beach. We were scheduled to stay at another hotel but they gave our room away. So we ended up driving around for a few minutes before finding this hotel. It attracted us because it was at the end of the island. We went there to get our room. The price for the room was so much cheaper then the first hotel we went to. The rooms were so beautiful and the view was spactacular. Instead of staying one night we stayed two. The service was great and the people are friendly. We are planning to go back to the beach this year and that is where we plan to stay. Everything that you need is a phone call or elevator ride away. We loved it and so will you.

A little disappointing

When I called to make the reservation I asked if the hotel had Wi-Fi and was assured they did. When I arrived I found that there was no Wi-Fi in the room so I went to the desk. I was told that there was Wi-Fi in the lobby. Guess what, not there either. The desk clerk did give me a device that allowed me to get broadband in my room. The normal charge for that is $5.00 and tax. He did not charge me for which I thanked him but I did remind him that truth in advertising was better than back peddling.

The remote for the TV had duct tape holding in the batteries which for me was a sore point.

Other than that the room was clean and set up rather well with two beds in the bedroom and the couch pulling out into a double bed.

But there was no TV in the bedroom, another sore point.

Over all the trip was not worth the $119.00 a night with the aggravation added in.

I doubt I will go back as there are to many other hotels in the same price range to choose from that have Wi-Fi in the room and a TV in the bedroom.

It was very nice, however, and the construction was annoying. We were not warned of this ahead of time.

THERE WAS NOTHING TO DISLIKE. I SPENT MY HONEYMOON THERE IN 1990. STILL IS AS BEAUTIFUL AS IT WAS THEN. A BEAUTIFUL AND SERENE PLACE TO BE. NO HUSTLE AND BUSTLE. THESE PLACES ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN
