Beware of $16.35 resort fee

This place is dated but nice, and the staff was great. I was very disappointed to be hit with an additional resort fee when I checked out. There was no mention of it when I booked through orbitz. I even tried again that day just to see where it was listed but couldn't find it. I familiar with resort fees but this was too high and not mentioned.

Peaceful setting. My room smelled like particle board.“Overall I was very pleased with this hotel. The room and surrounding grounds were comfortable, although there was significant noise from upstairs footsteps.”

The pool area was huge and beautiful, peaceful. Room was perfect. Walk to El Paseo!Nothing!“I came to Shadow mountain, based on a friend's recommendation. My room was fantastic, I love that there was a little bachelor style kitchen, so you could eat breakfast/lunch in your room if you wanted. The room was clean, and the decor was really thoughtfully done. Covered parking, and beautiful huge pool area! I was there mid-week, so it wasn't too crowded, it was just what I needed to rejuvenate! And, you can walk to El Paseo! Honestly, I don't know how it gets any better! Well, for me at least. I will certainly be back, and definately spreading the word! Thank you, Shadow-Mountain!”

I liked having a room with a kitchenette for the price.Above floor is tile and was very noisy and annoying when upstairs neighbors came in a midnight and at 5am.“It was a little difficult to find, tucked away into he neighborhood and it looked like a condo complex rather than hotel. When we asked to move due to the loud floor upstairs they were very accommodating and moved us no problem. The restaurant folks were very nice and breakfast was very good.”

I enjoyed the pool most of all, being huge and salt water. No restaurant had to eat out every meal and do not want to go food shopping when on vacation.“I think the survey covers everything. The empty fridge stayed that way. Do not want to go to a super market on vacation. I would have given it the best recommendation if there had been food on the premises.”

This is the fourth time I visited the hotel over the past twenty years and the large pool area is still beautiful!I had to complain about the mold in the shower (not just one spot either!).“I would probably stay here again but would make sure ahead of time that the shower was spic and span and ask for a room not overlooking the pool. One also has to get used to the humming noises from the fridge in our room and the one next door. Staff very friendly.”

The outdoor facilities.Dated interior facilities.“Hotel was difficult to find during late evening check in. Tucked into residential area. Also, the hotel had instituted a "resort" fee of . Per day effective for reservations booked beginning January 3rd. They added it to our bill on check out. Took some strong conversation to get them to reverse the charge.”
