This resort is absolutely beautiful. The pool, the grounds, the view everything was wonderful. The staff was attentive to our needs and were super friendly. The place is just great especially in the summer time and the deals you can get. If you can get away for the night...just go and relax.

All Review Photos We had a very enjoyable vacation at the Scottsdale Camelback Resort. It’s located at the base of Camelback Mountain and is 20 minutes from the Phoenix airport. Our 2 bedroom 2 bath unit was very clean. There’s a living room with a southwestern style fireplace, TV, stereo system, and dining room. The master bedroom has a king sized bed with plenty of storage space and a TV. The master bath has a whirlpool tub, walk in shower, 2 sinks and toilet area with separate door. There’s toilet tissue and facial tissues supplied. The guest bedroom has 2 twin beds and TV and a separate bathroom with a tub and shower and 2 sinks. The kitchen has a washer dryer, dishwasher, full size refrigerator and stove, microwave and garbage disposal. There’s a weeks supply of dishwasher detergent, dish detergent and paper towels. There is free midweek cleaning and replacing of towels. A new sofa and loveseat were delivered while we were visiting.
We had a second floor unit with a patio with a table and 4 chairs with a nice view of Camelback Mountain. We would sit on the patio at night and see beautiful sunsets.
There is a good-sized swimming pool, spa and plenty of lounge chairs at the resort with very clean rest rooms. There’s a large children’s pool with a canopy to shade you from the sun. The pool’s open from 8am to 10pm. Towels are available in your unit. There’s a reasonably priced restaurant and bar adjacent to the pool. If you didn’t bring your laptop, there is a laptop in the restaurant you can use for free to access the Internet. It was available whenever we wanted to use it.
There’s an exercise room, game room, walking trails, tennis courts, putting green, and charcoal grills with picnic tables. A concierge is available and the front desk has directions to area attractions. The staff was friendly and the resort is kept very clean. The units are non-smoking and no pets are allowed.
We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Scottsdale Camelback Resort.

All Review Photos Best Things Nearby:Camelback Mountain, Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, "Historic" ScottsdaleBest Things About the Resort:Immaculately maintained. Every amenity you could want.Resort Experience:We often have concerns about "older" resorts. Not so here. Although Camelback Resort in Scottsdale, AZ, was built in the 1980s and is not particularly large, it is 11 acres of pure Gold Crown.
Our two-bedroom unit was immaculate. The living room featured a wood-burning fireplace and had furnishings done in a beautiful Southwestern style. The living room opened to a large, private, walled-in patio that was almost 300 square feet in size. From our living room, with binoculars, we could see climbers hiking the trails to the top of Camelback Mountain. The master bedroom featured a queen bed and a desk, and the master bath had a double sink, whirlpool tub, and walk-in shower. The second bedroom had two twin beds. Besides having a washer/dryer in the unit, the resort offered a complimentary mid-week housekeeping cleaning and towel exchange
The units are all non-smoking, and no pets are allowed. If you would like a daily paper delivered to your room, you pay for the paper, and delivery is free. Also, be aware that if you are going to be making local calls, they are 50 cents each.
The grounds are beautiful. The lawns were perfectly manicured, and we didn’t see any litter at all. The resort contained virtually every amenity except a golf course (which would have been a little hard to fit on 11 acres). There are two walking trails, a pool, fitness room, three tennis courts, a beautiful putting green, and a 9-hole miniature golf course. In addition, the resort had a "Cactus Garden", volleyball court, children’s play area, croquet court, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and a reasonably priced restaurant. If you are a golfer, the concierge will be glad to arrange discounts for you at a number of local courses nearby.
Every Monday, at a complimentary breakfast, the resort concierge outlined the week’s events, which included many of the usual activities (crafts, massage services, guided walks, and a ping-pong tournament) and at least one activity for the adventure-prone (a hike up Camelback Mountain). Outside vendors were on hand (hot-air balloon ride, desert jeep tours, horseback tours, and a city bus tour) and gave presentations for their reasonably priced services, which could be scheduled through the concierge.
For shoppers, the resort is less than 5 minutes by car from Scottsdale’s huge indoor Fashion Square Mall and from the shops of "old historic Scottsdale".
This resort is truly a "gem". We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and you will too.

Best Things Nearby:Fashion Square Mall and Camelback Mountain are within walking distance; Old Town Scottsdale, Taliesin West, and Phoenix are less than 30 minutes away; and Sedona and Tucson are 2 hours away. To learn more about the resort, check out their website at

Best Things About the Resort:The room was the best I have stayed in in my five RCI trips so far. The grounds were immaculate, and they went all out decorating the place for the holidays.Resort Experience:The resort is nestled in by the base of Camelback Mountain, next to the famous Phoencian Resort, a short walk from downtown Scottsdale. The resort is well-maintained in a wonderful location, with plenty to do on site (miniature golf, a pool, a spa, a fireplace in the room, a restaurant, etc.). There is plenty to do in the area: golf, horseback rides, desert jeep tours, etc. My favorite things were the day trips to Tucson and the Desert Museum and a day trip to Sedona to see the famous red rocks. I also highly recommend going to Taliesin West, which is Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture studio/school in Arizonaa one-of-a-kind experience, and the Heard Museum in Phoenixthe best Native American art museum in the world.
The separate bungalows, set on the quiet grounds, were excellent. As there were only the two of us, we had a bathroom each, and Heather especially liked the jacuzzi. The high ceilings made for cool temperatures, though there was a real fireplace, should you take an early or late vacation. The whole area lets you unwind, should that be your aim.

Best Things Nearby: Best Things About the Resort:Variety of activities on siteResort Experience:We had a large group made up of my wife, son, mother, and my sister and her family. We had two nicely furnished two-bedroom condos at the Camelback Resort.
My niece has twin 1-year-old, girls so I called the resort prior to the trip and arranged for a crib and couple of high chairs. They use an outside company that brings these in and everything was ready when we arrived. The cost of these rentals was $67 for the week.
Although an older property (built in the early 80's), it is well kept with a wonderful variety of activities that kept my 11-year-old son busy.
The pool is decent size and the kiddy pool is right along side and completely in the shade, a real plus when the temperature is over 100. There is a bar/restaurant directly by the pool and they will serve you reasonably priced food and beverages right at poolside.
There is also an indoor racquetball court as well as outdoor basketball, tennis, horseshoe, croquet, and putting green. $5 per family gets you access to all of this for the week.
Tip - our condos backed up to the main road (Camelback) and the master bedrooms pick up a lot of road noise. They did offer to move us to a different location but couldn't get us adjoining units so we stayed where we were. I would try and avoid these units if you are a light sleeper.

Best Things Nearby:You don't have to go

Best Things Nearby:You don't have to go very far to find restaurants, markets, shops, and gas stations.Best Things About the Resort:This is a large unit with loads of places to keep your stuff in the main bedroom and bathroom. The poolside cafe, The Grille, had a nice selection of foods. A really nice feature is that if you want directions to a certain restaurant, golf course, or scenic sight, just ask at the front desk and they will give you a piece of paper with directions and approximate driving time. You can get a list of some 50 golf courses within reach and they’ll set up tee times. Resort Experience:The Scottsdale Camelback Resort (RCI #1150) is a Gold Crown property.
We had one of the smaller two-bedroom units (one with queen size bed, the other with two twins) -- with two bathrooms, a full kitchen, fireplace, and washer/dryer -- called the Seville, which consisted of a generous 1055 sq. ft. plus a patio on the first floor. A pleasing light colored desert décor, the lack of unnecessary furniture, and a vaulted ceiling over the dining/living room area enhanced the spaciousness of the unit. Each bedroom and the living room had a television. All three beds and all the pillows were terribly uncomfortable being mushy, lumpy, and the queen size bed slanted towards the middle. We never got a decent night’s sleep. Hopefully, they will be replacing these soon. The bathroom off the main bedroom had a jacuzzi tub separate from the shower. There was a high wall, with no view and an enclosed patio, but plenty of privacy where you could sunbathe naked if you wanted. Maid service was provided once during the week.
The swimming pool was your basic medium size and there was a nice sized jacuzzi. There was also a large canvas covered 1.5-feet deep children’s pool right next to it. Along one side of the pool complex was a snack bar (including alcoholic drinks). You can sit at the counter or at one of the tables, both areas being covered with misters along the edges. Or you can sit inside of The Grille. They have a limited breakfast menu as well as things such as egg rolls, beer battered mushrooms, chicken wings, personal pizza, burrito fingers, tossed salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, sandwiches like BLT, turkey, ham, tuna, steak, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, children’s menu, mocha mud pie, key lime pie, etc. It was surprisingly extensive. The pool complex was a little too confining. Not enough space nor was there any landscaping. They do have 11 tables with umbrellas, plenty of lounge chairs and the restrooms were very clean. During our stay, the pool complex was open from 8am until 10pm. Pool towels were available in the unit as well as at the front desk. The property as a whole (about 100 units) had ho-hum landscaping.
The property has a tiny croquet course, horseshoes, bocce ball, tetherball, volleyball, tennis courts, some minor (not really worth mentioning) organized activities, a small putting green, a micro mini goofy golf course, small exercise room, and one room where you can have a facial or massage. They bring in outside staff for these. I did have the 60-minute Camelback facial for $60 and felt and looked great afterwards!
They have an Orientation where the resort is described and some tour companies come to speak. There was a free raffle but all they gave away was little stuff that wasn’t worthwhile. You could easily miss the Orientation. They do have a tour desk.
