The motel was alright for the price. Old, but clean enough. The heater was very loud, so you couldn't put it on and watch the tv.

This was all that was available no wonder why! The room wasn't clean and it smelled. The owners/managers were awful. They called me 5 times before I arrived to make sure I was still staying. Once I checked in and saw the room they wouldn't let me out of the second night. The worse hotel I have EVER stayed at..The Bates Motel

Excellent Place to Stay.

Most suitable hotel while visiting Cornell.Rodeway Inn was a great hotel for staying. The rooms were nice and clean. Location was very convenient. Free breakfast with coffee and cookies all day was a plus. Front desk staff were among the freindliest and most helpful I've met. I've stayed all over the country and considering the size and rural location of Ithaca this was a fine place to stay.

Horrible experience

They completely overcharged us, and because it was a busy time of year, we had no other option but to accept their sky-high prices. Additionally, they told us there was a minimum number of days we had to stay, and even though we stayed only one night, we ended up paying for multiple nights. Lastly, they were painting the halls when we went, and the paint fumes in the rooms were nearly unbearable. It was a horrible experience. Try to book your stay (somewhere else) well in advance, as all the places sell out fast during busy times of year.

This was the first time I ever stayed

This was the first time I ever stayed at a pet friendly hotel. I will not stay in a pet friendly hotel again. The first room my spouse and I were given smelled of cat pee. When we complained, we were given a second room. It smelled faintly of dog, but was bearable. The room was small and spartan, but sufficed for the single night that we stayed. The free breakfast was simple, but did include eggs, which could be heated in a microwave. It was in a very plain eating area in front of the registration desk.

The room was full of flies - dead bugs

The room was full of flies - dead bugs squashed on the ceiling - dead bugs in the refrigerator - the beds were so hard we rarely slept-1 bed did not touch the headboard because it was too close to the other wall, so the pillows did not stay on the bed -- there was a 1/2" gap in the door when shut so you could see outside-good thing there was a swing-latch. When you walked into the room, you had to walk sideways to get between the tv stand and the bed. Nice TV, bad reception - the bathroom was very clean. They had a swimming pool, but it was backfilled with dirt, so they had no amenities. Breakfast was extremely minimal - not worth it.

We were in Ithaca to visit a college

We were in Ithaca to visit a college and this was the least expensive and only place available. The room was clean and the bed was OK but the room had such a awful smell. We first tried to spray some cologne and that helped a little and then I had to go to the local 99 cent store to get an air freshner to hang in front of the air conditioner unit which also helped a little. The room appeared to be freshly painted but the smell did not appear to be from that. It smelled like a cross between a locker room and a musty basement. Next time I will spend more money and stay somewhere else.

This is Rodeway Inn now--avoid at all cost!

Not being told in advance that the parking lot right outsided our motel room door would be resealed. This is even though we talked with the front office twice before we checked in and that we had stayed at the motel for three days. When we questioned the person that seemed to be in charge he told us to stay in our room for an hour. When my husband's expensive sandals were covered with a tar-like substance to clean them with mayo--funny thing we do not travel with mayo. We are keeping a towel at the bottom of the room door trying to keep the fumes out to avoid a serious headache. We are stuck here because we are traveling with our dog and it is too late in the day to find other facilities. When I called Rodeway Inn Corporate I was told there is nothing they can do--that these are owned independently. When I called Choice Hotels they told me they just sell the name--there is nothing they can or will do. Take my advice--do not stay at the Rodeway Inn in Ithaca, NY. Spend the extra money. Be treated like you matter!
