Made reservations on-line 18 days

Made reservations on-line 18 days before arrival date. Received 2 confirming e-mails. Upon arrival at the hotel, clerk did not have our reservation. They were not busy. I asked for a room anyway, assuming they would honor the reservation. I gave her ID and credit card which were photocopied. After processing my credit card and typing info into their computer she told me they would not honor the reservation rate. The new rate was $50 more and because I had an unusual sounding/spelled name (I'm Swedish!) I had to produce ID's for my wife and kids, who were still in the car. When I refused, she offered me a room for less but only if I paid her cash "on the side!" I then knew she was scamming me. I requested to speak to the manager. She gave me his business card and said he was not on the property. I asked for the phone number to call to cancel my reservation. She gave me a 800 number to call. When I complained about the 800 number she gave me, she just giggled! I finally found the correct 800 number in my reservations paperwork. I called to cancel my reservation, to make sure I wasn't billed for a room and to complain. They canceled my reservation and the room charge, but complaint department was closed. I called Monday and filed formal complaint with Choice Hotels. They were very professional and apologized in writing. I complained to property manager via phone and in writing with no response. I would recommend staying at the Quality Inn West End just down the street. It a much nicer hotel!

They have a rude staff

After phoning several times and being hung up on by their new manager who would not help me with directions to the hotel, I decided that they should be notified that their staff used profanity towards my wife. They have a wonderful reputation and employees claiming to be the manager with actions like that ruin it.

Terrible management & service!

The only thing to like about the place is the location to local resaurants and I64. The rooms were fairly clean and tolerable for business stays. The service and staff were awful. I made reservations weeks ahead of time, every time. Outlets did not work, exhaust fans did not work or were very noisy and light bulbs were burned out or missing in others. Each week I would make reservations for severl weeks in advance and stipulate the need for microwave and refrigerator. On a number occasions, even after I told the desk clerk that the room did not have one, I was told that was the only room left, take it or leave it. I was there on business for two months, every week, getting a corporate rate from day 1. The last week there, the new "manager" refused to give me the corporate rate because he could find no record of it being granted. The manager was rude, unreasonable and acted like a child when I challenged his decision. He finally "ordered" me to leave and would not give me a reservation. I went just down the road and stayed at a Super 8, got a better room & no hassle for $8 more. Do yourself a favor & do the same!

It had a good location and a nice pool for our grand children to swim in and relax. They had a nice exercise room. It was close to a restaurant.

Nice hotel

This is one of the nicest Econo Lodges i have ever stayed at. The rooms are very clean and breakfast had many options. The staff is very friendly. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel vey much. I will definitely return. I visit Richmond, VA at least 5 times a year but have stayed at more expensive hotels before. From now on, I will definitley visit the Econo Lodge on Broad Street. For a much nicer price, I can get same quality.

Stayed for one night in May 2006. For

Stayed for one night in May 2006. For the price, was surprised at cleanliness of room and features such as fridge, microwave, coffemaker, hairdryer, two phones, and cable tv in room. Room was very clean and comfortable...not large but it was enough for me. Young ladies at front desk were exceptionally friendly and helpful with my check-in and check-out. Continental breakfast in lobby the following morning was good and varied. Location is along Broad Street which has every store and restaraunt imaginable along its length. Overall, very satisfied with choice.
