I was blown away by the new Riviera. The pork belly appetizer was amazing, the pool was beautiful, the service was professional and kind. And, the bathroom was gorgeous! I'll definitely be returning to this destination.

Overpriced, false advertising, plumbing problems

The only thing good I can say is that the lobby and front of the hotel are attractive. However, water poured out of the ceiling in my room and damaged my luggage and the hotel made no effort to compensate me. They state that there is WIFI in all rooms - I ended up having to walk the hallway with my laptop to find a signal and found a signal in only half the rooms on the hall. The food was disappointing and overpriced. They call themselves legendary - it's a joke.

pros: No expense spared in updating this hotel, staff super sweetThis resort was closed for a while, and was renovated to the tune of $70MM. I've never seen it before, but the investment really shows. The place is all glitzed up and the big investments are everywhere. Everything sparkles, mirrors, shines and full of color, and there are bold statements in design from wall papers to light fixtures. There is a huge center court with pool, and they set up sitting areas with fire pits which is really a great place to sit at night. We were actually invited by our neighbor in LA to a Christmas party and weekend, so we ended up eating at the hotel most meals. food was great, servers were really lovely, but it was clear that some kinks are being worked out. we had a suite and it was very large, with flat screen tvs a fireplace and nice pool views. Friday night was fairly quiet, but Saturday night was hopping, and the bar in the front by the lobby was packed (we had a party in what what they cal the 'side bar' by the pool). We just returned from there, and I think this has now become a 'must' on the consideration set for a weekend in Palm Springs.

We spent only one night at the Riviera

We spent only one night at the Riviera in Palm Springs but it was an excellent experience. The hotel has been reopened after extensive renovation and it is great. Well appointed rooms, modern decor throughout and a very nice pool area. On site restaurant, bars and a huge spa with many sevices also available. From the crowd on a Saturday night, the place semed to be very popular. A great place to stay if your in the Palm Springs area. Will definetly stay there again.

We were so glad we stayed at the Riviera Resort and Spa. It is so stylish, so "Palm Springs"! All of the staff were amazing. The bed was luscious. Our room was large and beautiful. The bathroom had a gorgeous shower as well as large stand-alone tub. But the pool was the highlight. The warm water and the fire pits made us wish we could hang there all day. Sipping cocktails under the stars all evening was just dreamy. We didn't want to leave the hotel the whole time. My only concern was that some of the room fixtures seemed a bit cheap and might not hold up well in the future. But so far so good!

Horrible Restaurant experience

Were told that there was limited seating and most table were reserved, but when we got there the restaurant was two thirds empty. Service took forever for pricey but mediocre food. I will say the decor is wonderful, but not worth the wait and attitude. No parking nearby so you have to pay $8 to valet park (plus tip). We waited to get our car in a long line of unhappy customers as the valet service resembled the Keystone Cops. They could not find our car, then drove it through and drove it away again before we could get them to stop and let us in. Then the car was lost for another ten minutes and theyYELLED at us for inquiring about it. I was physically intimidated by one of the valet drivers. A horrible experience. With this attitude, I doubt it will last long. If the restaurant is still open when you read this review then beware.

The building in the back of the property seems isolated and dangerous after dark. I had no problems during the stay, though.
