The package i paid for was for a room

The package i paid for was for a room with a Queen or King or 2 Double Beds. Instead we got a room, or actually a box, that had 2 twin beds. I called to complain but they said they were sold out that weekend and couldn't change the room. The area around the hotel was riddled with homeless people and very creepy at night time. There was no heat in our room, so they sent up a space heater that looked like it was from 1978. Then at one point our fuse blew in our room when we were getting ready to go out and all the lights and outlets were out for about 10 minutes. I found a bug in my bed on 2 different days. Thank god we didn't pay full price which apparently was $* per night because that would've added insult to injury. Overall not a very good experience at all. Next time we won't be staying in the Civic Center area of San Francisco and will venture to a more pleasing area.

Didn't even get to stay there...I

Didn't even get to stay there...I called to reserve 2 cribs for my twin 13 month old boys. They told me no problem. I called a week later (3 days prior to trip) to confirm and also try to upgrade the room to accomodate the boys taking naps and having privacy. They told me the room I booked originally wouldn't accomodate 2 cribs and we HAD to upgrade to a similar room just a little bigger (still didn't get privacy for the boys naps), for a fee of $1*. I was okay with that (upset about the price but dealing w/ it) but here's the HUGE kicker...they would't reserve the 2nd crib for us. They had the NERVE to tell us that they couldn't reserve it b/c perhaps another guest may need it. THAT'S DISCRIMINATION! I have TWO kids so I'm not able to get a second crib! That would absolutely not be okay with me. I tried my hardest to work w/ the manager on the issue but he wouldn't budge. I called Travelocity, they fixed the problem...and were SO HELPFUL AND NICE about it, thank goodness. I still had to pay for the hotel b/c it's non refundable. The manager knew this detail and wouldn't work with me because he knew we had no choice but to stay there. I only had to pay a little extra to get the hotel switched, thank GOD. Also, I heard the area was rough...they should really be a little nicer to potential guests and treat them equally since everyone HATED the neighborhood. The best part is the manager called back an hour later to tell me he talked to the director of the hotel and DID in fact reserve two cribs for us. AFTER ALL THAT? NO THANK YOU!

I only stayed there for a two nights. I would only recommend this place if you are desperate and it is your last resort. It looks nice and I thought it was sort of cool to stay there, since it looked like it was from a scary movie and was right next to the subway station (literally a few steps away). But the smell was bad. The ice machine did work. and they post a notice about the blackouts. But my bed had bedbugs and the beds were really small. Area was a bit intimidating, but not that bad.

I have stayed at the hotel on and off

I have stayed at the hotel on and off for the past 5 years and I have nothing but High Praise for the Staff. The rooms were all was very clean and when I was in San Francisco it was around the first of July and the rooms were very comfortable not hot at all and if I wanted to I could open the windows. I will say it is in a bad neighborhood due to all the bums and the trash you see in the neighborhood since there is a bum food house one block away but the staff all ways too care of me and look out for me when I was going or coming to the hotel. I have all ways had them park my truck and I never had a problem getting my truck and I was in during the Gay Day Events. I sorry to say that Cafe Do Brasil has closed due to Elvia the owner getting sick and having to retire I will miss the good times I had at the restaurant and the good food and the very friendly owner and staff. To the Staff and Managers all I can say keep up the great work you are doing.

The hotel itself is ok, but it is surrounded by strip clubs. If you take a cab back and forth it might be ok. The streets around this hotel are unsafe during the day, at night I wouldn't have wanted to walk even 1/2 block. The beds were very small - like youth beds. The shower, towels etc. were ok. Staff friendly only no one would give me a refund. Online travel website did NOT return my money nor did the Hotel Renoir. I ended up checking out after 1 evening and paying 3 times as much to stay at the Marriott for the week. This hotel needs to employ staff/bouncers that will walk you 3 blocks in any direction to safety or provide a free shuttle around town. DO NOT stay here unless you are prepared for a street fight. Staff spoke German and Russian somewhat fluently. With a few modifications and a refund policy this could be a great hotel.

if your idea of a hotel stay is a suburban Mariott or high rise Hilton, then you're not going to like the Renoir. If, however you like feeling like you're part of the city you're in rather than being insulated from it, then you'll like this place. It's not plush but it is clean. The hotel is not air conditioned but that's not necessary in SFO. I really like it's proximity to everything. The location is perfect. The BART station is right across the street and the streetcar F linestops right in front of the hotel. Most of the other guests were European - German, I think, and there were a number of gay people staying there as well. Everyone was quite nice and the staff was very helpful. I'll stay at the Renoir again. It's very reasonably priced for it's location.

The area of town was horrible. The hotel had a bad smell to it. The hotel was old and run down. Said it was recently refurbished, not sure where. Not really close to Fisherman's warf, if you were there on a Vacation. Did not feel safe at all.
