Don't know who thought that this place was anywhere above a 2 out of 5 stars, but believe me its true. Located in a not so nice anymore part of town, was very unimpressed with everything. I heard rumors that some rooms had been newly updated, but those apparently were not available with the online package. Do yourself a big favor, and find any place on the west side of town -

Convenient location just off the expressway, yet quiet if you get a room facing the parking lot. Renovated rooms are spacious and well equipped (except perhaps sub-par TV reception and nothing to hang towels in bath room). Curiously, furniture is refurbished with many exposed hardwood edges that kids may get themselves bruised if not careful. Good breakfast in full-size dining room. Staff is friendly and helpful. Now the questionable bit: I suspected bed bugs after the first night, and by the third I was bitten ALL OVER. Then I noticed sign on door indicating pets allowed (in that room) and thought must be the reason. On inquiring at front desk, I was informed that pets allowed only on top floors (not ground floor where I was). To their credit, someone came in to check for fleas before I checked out, but I still think it must be the blanket and mattress. If anyone else had the same problem, we should let them know because other than this problem, it is a great place to stay on the north-west side of Phoenix!

Great location

-Location was great. Centrally located to zoo, water park, state fair, malls, and Peoria complex.
- Need to invest in new beds. My back was sore after two days. It was more comfortable sleeping on the floor with blankets, "not by much." Cant enjoy vacation when your back is out of whack.
- complimentary breakfast was good, could use some fresh fruits, whole wheat bread or yogurts for people with diabetes.
- couldn't use weight room till 8a.m. It was on the third floor over a guest's room. Need to change location of fitness room to first floor or away from guests.

Very nice rooms, I was weary after first reading the other reviews but the room was very nice and modern. We recieved a free upgrade which was a plus. The free breakfast was ok and the drinks were pretty good during happy hour. Overall I would stay again, because it was close to the free way and other restaurants.

There is a $1 access fee for all calls, local and long distance. While there may be no toll charges, in my opinion for this facility to represent themselves as offering "free" local calls is, to put it nicely, disingenuous. On the plus side, the complimentary breakfast buffet is good.

Ask for new rooms

We stayed here in March and got one of the newly renovated rooms- I thought I was staying at the Hilton -they were so nice. Staff was extremely friendly and the free breakfast was a plus. I don't like paying for local calls either but I just used my cell. No big deal. I will be going back again for spring training next year. It was centrally located to most of the ballparks.

unhappy customer

Would not recommend this hotel. The spa was cloudy at best with a greenish tint to the water. The dinner menue was limited with better variety on some local bar menue's. Although the breakfast was tasty it was repedative. If the complimentary internet failed you had to pay for the telephone call to get it repaired(not very complimentary). You must pay for all local calls $1.00 plus tax, in 30 years of traveling around the world this is the first place I have ever stayed and had to pay for calls. There are no ammenities near by, but there is a car rental in the lobby. No shuttle service to or from the hotel without a fee. The only saving grace for this hotel was the friendly bartender and the hostess from breakfast. They were always a pleasure to be around.

Only stayed for one night. Bed was really hard, but room was adequate. Would not have been happy if stay was longer. Rooms were old, and really needed updating, but clean. Enjoyed the hot breakfast, coffee was excellent.
