Beware extremely unsafe hotel

The hotel was awful dirty unkept and disgusting. The hotel has no security beware of parking your car there over night. My car and two other cars were broken into on the same night, not only did "security" miss the breakins but they didnt even notice it till I reported that my car was broken into. The hotel staff didnt even walk the parking lot when I reported my car window smashed, the other two hotel guests found their cars broken into. How lazy can the hotel staff be when they dont even walk the grounds to see if other cars were broken into? I was throughly disgusted when I tried to ask for help at the desk with getting the police station phone number the lazy disgruntled front desk person told me to use my cell phone and dial 911 - obviously not smart enough to know that use of 911 is for emergencies only. Customer service is more than lacking at this hotel... No one bothered to address any of my issues till I sent an email to corporate- absolutely the rudest employees. Do not stay here you will be sorry!

Not worth the rate

I was very disappointed in this place. We have always wanted to stay in a "luxury" hotel but this wasn't it. Thank God my husband owns his own online travel agency because we paid half of the regular rate for two double beds that were sleep number (those beds aren't any different from regular beds to us, slept the same as sleeping on an air mattress). The rooms DO NOT come with microwave or fridge, that is extra ($10/night), and housekeeping (unless you complain) are lazy. The shower curtains do not stay closed unless you stick the hook in the shower rod (which curves not straight), we had a leak in our bathroom, oh and most of the stations (on TV) weren't that clear or didn't get them at all. They failed to tell us that we were to get free breakfast during our stay; one of the housekeepers told us as we were checking out. The regular rate was like $189 but we paid like $69 or something like that a night. We wanted to stay another night but they wouldn't give us the deeply discounted rate we had before so we ended us staying at the Knights Inn in Groton (which was so much better for a little less; came with microwave and fridge as well as high speed internet access and it was clean pretty much) oh yeah the parking could use some improvement as well. It does have an indoor pool and mini-fitness center (which we never got the chance to utilize), so that is the upside of it, but the staff at the front desk could use some more customer service training (the woman who checked us didn't even ask us how was our stay which was the front office manager, the woman who checked us in was good though, wish I knew her name). Bottom line, if you want luxury do NOT come here.

Lovely decor, clean and comfortable

Lovely decor, clean and comfortable.First day breakfast eggs, etc. were dry and old. A La Carte was costly for small eaters.“The streets around the New London Radisson are sort of confusing. The parking was not great and the neighborhood side of the lot darker at night and the area a little questionable, but overall did not feel unsafe. We never got to use the pool but the room was clean, comfortable and attractive. The sleep number beds did not seem to work the same (two queen beds in room) and one bed was particularly uncomfortable - would prefer a comfy real mattress. We missed having a refrigerator in the room and were not happy to resort to ice buckets and $2.00 Cokes in very hot weather. A big plus for us, the housekeeping staff was friendly and personable. We enjoyed the room, had plentiful supplies, towels, etc. Did not like that when someone else slammed their door, our door made a movement that sounded like it was being opened, then would settle. The available breakfast in the restaurant was pricey a la carte and the breakfast bar seemed priced well beyond what most people would eat for their first meal of the day. Other than our late arrival and dry eggs and slim pickings on day 1, the other days provided ample choices and good food. Small dinner in bar also was good but not inexpensive. Overall, for a couple not spending a great deal of time there during most of the day, it was highly satisfactory and the housekeeping, desk and wait staff was all friendly and helpful which gets high points with us, along with the clean, fresh looking room.”

Excellent housekeeping.Staff was not

Excellent housekeeping.Staff was not very knowledgeable about the area, food expensive for the quality.“Nice hotel, unfortunately the staff either didn't know much about sites or activities in the area or just didn't want to take the time. The food was pretty expensive and the last night we ordered room service they tried to charge us an extra $17 just for ordering and a tip when it states on the menu a fee of $2.95 will be applied. I don't have a problem tipping, but that's ridiculous. The best part was the housekeeping staff, everyday when we got back the room was spotless (couldn't tell an 18month old was there having a good old time).”

The staff was friendly. They did not make up the room.“The hotel itself was very nice. They simply forgot to make up my room, and I was kept up at 3-4 AM by wedding attendees partying.”

Room was nice. Seemed reasonably clean.Location. Iffy part of town. After checking out discovered car next to mine had the window smashed and broken into. Very unnerving.“The restaurant was horrible. A staff person was filling as waiter. Had no clue how to do it. Didn't know menu, didn't ask if we wanted drinks, brought rolls frozen in middle, salad was wilted and un-tempting. Just awful.”

I didn't like much at all, the hotel

I didn't like much at all, the hotel was dirty.Sheets were stained; room was damp and felt unclean.“The room was not clean, this place is a dump. I am disappointed in the Radisson brand. Sea gulls circled the hotel constantly, even though we were blocks from the water. The grounds were not well kept and our sheets were stained. I would never go back here.”
