The boardwalk lies directly behind the hotel so taking a lovely walk along the shoreline was simple from our building. It is well maintained and clean. There is easy access to the boardwalk and the beach. Parking was a bit of a problem as you had to cross Atlantic Avenue (a very busy street) to park. Staff was very friendly and helpful even when we lost our room key in the ocean. A nice relaxing place to get away. We were in town for the Rock n Roll Half Marathon which starts at the VA Beach Convention Center For a budget hotel, it was acceptable. Our room was clean and tighty and gently worn. Front desk staff were polite. The pool is okay but the people who came and used it all weekend (that weren't even staying at the hotel) took away from any thought of us using it. The beach is a mile away or so. I would imagine the free shuttle service would make do but on this weekend, it wasn't running. I am glad we stayed here but we won't stay here again for Labor Day. Its close to the race start but the beach is too far away. Also, there are a couple restaurants and bars within walking distance but be prepared to wait because they are all super slow.
