While the birds are a nice touch the staff should clean the cages once in a while. Go see the birds at 8:00pm and you will notice roaches clinbing ALL OVER thier cages. Better yet go to your room and bump you fridge and watch them come out. NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE AFTER EATING AT THEIR POOL BAR 50 FEET FROM THE CAGES. I will never stay at that hotel again. But the last couple of years have been bad. Always something we would normally use at the hotel was not working but we stayed every winter. This stay during March of 2009 the pool was cold, both of the Saunas did not work, one of the hot tub was broken and empty, the other did not work and the water was cold even the hotels only ice machine was empty and out of order. We called two hours before arriving and booked a room at a higher rate than was online. The person that booked stay was not helpful and we were asked by that person if we wanted a king or 2 doubles we requested a king and they said it was available. Of course we lugged our luggage up to 3rd floor to the room they gave that had 2 double beds. We still like the parrots but suggest taking the parrots out of the cages and putting the manager and owner in their place. I have never stayed in a this horrible hotel. Every night we were there I had to call the front desk due to people below us using fowl language, yelling banging on the walls until 2 am or better. Our room was very dirty, the carpets were filthy, you could not even walk across the room without having your feet covered in black stuff. The hotel was fine and the staff was friendly at check in. I had to go through the atrium to get to my room and they had a large amount of tropical birds which they left loose during the day. Every time I wanted to go somewhere I had to go to the end of the hallway and go up and down 5 flights of stairs and outside and around the building because I have been attacked in the past by birds and do not want to be anywhere near birds. We could only park one car on the lot and my daughter had to park on the street. She has a brand new 2009 vehicle which was damaged while parked on the street. The passenger door was body slammed by someone which completely ruined the door and paint on her new vehicle. After letting front desk know, another room was offered and accepted. New room bathroom tiles cracked and coming apart as people walking on. Shower hard to regulate as went from hot to freezing cold. Mildew in radiator. Room keys did not work and had to get new ones. Food at atrium in hotel was good, but service slow as they forgot simple things such as water. Cleaning staff needs to look under the bed when vacuuming. Pools and spas are always sand filled. If you get a noisy neighbor at 3am the front desk staff is not around. Six day ocean front room was $1850 on the last night we had extremely noisy neighbors and no staff assistance at 3am. I complained and was reimbursed for $87 for a sleepless night. The view was beautiful and the balcony made it even better. The birds were a great thing to see when you are entering and leaving the hotel.
