The place is under a new owner since april 2008 and the rennovations have already begun. They are replacing everything from carpet to beds!! The new staff is a wonderful and friendly! They told me that they are no longer associated with Howard Johnson and are now a Quality Inn. I thought everything was great and will only get better as they complete the rennovations...I will be back to see all of the changes and try the new beds!! They are also running summer rate specials and everyone receives a certificate for a discounted future stay anytimne within a year of of original stay. They also have great partnerships with area attractions and golf courses and we saved a lot of money by staying there! We walked into the hotel and they were rude upon check-in. The room wasn't vcean. They refused to put us in a different room because of the "deal we already had". I personally had to clean the toliet and bathroom so that it was usable. Stains everywhere, TV horrible, Bed linens were durty on one of the beds. Pool was disgusting, and the staff (when actually around) was rude. The website said there were no rooms available so I had to call to make a reservation. The waterpark there is just about right for small children. The hotel is easy to find and get to. The Paul Bunyan restaurant is right next door which was a very good place to dine. The rate we paid was more than what was quoted on the website and when asked, we were told the website was wrong. The mini fridge “gurgled” so I had to unplug it so my wife could sleep. The heat lamp in the bathroom did not work. Despite being a “non” smoking wing, there were people smoking. The housekeeping crew not friendly, room was never vacumed, I question if the sheets were ever changed, nasty bedspread had to be replaced, I asked for toilet paper two times, finally had to go to the front desk, my tub was filthy had my family wear flipflops to shower. This is not a place for kids very unclean. This is the second hotel in WD I have stayed in that is this way for $* per night. The carpet in the room was disgusting. The sheets looked like they had not been changed when we arrived. We requested a wake up call from the unfriendly front desk staff and never got it. There was no remote control for the TV in our room. The one outdoor pool was very dirty, with bugs and leaves floating in it, we wouldnt even let our child swim in it. The air conditioner did not work properly. The hotel itself appeared like they were just letting it go, not fixing anything.
