When I got home and unpacked, I called The Q Hotel and Spa and told them what happened - expecting them to say they had my belongings and I would be able to retrieve them. Much to my dismay, they told me to call back and they'd check around. I called back several times and no one claimed to know anything. From management to housekeeping, I was never given an answer other than, "I'll check with so-and-so and get back with you," - which they never did. I realize these things happen, but it was the flippant, uncaring attitude of management that will cause me to stay anywhere BUT The Q whenever I'm in Kansas City. We were there on a weekend when the entire hotel was booked and the staff was polite through the stay of a very rowdy football crowd. Great location and free parking was nice. I know they say they are green, but lack in a few areas. They should have two garbage cans in the rooms. One for recyle (which they did, but then another for the things that are not recyclable materials, such as our left over food from take out. Coffee mugs instead of the paper cups for the coffee machine. Otherwise...excellent job. Breakfast was decent. I was under the assumption that manager reception meant the same kind of manager reception at the Embassy.....free drinks for a period of time. They gave us one drink coupon each and then you had to pay. A little pricey on the alcohol. Bartender was nice, managers and staff were all very friendly. We would stay at this hotel again. Nice rooms, shower ammentities were great and overall we had an excellent visit. Awesome restaurant up the street in walking distance called 180 go check it out. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful---they ran out of room on the shuttle so they gave me a personal ride to the Sprint Center. The free cocktail hour and breakfast saves you some money while travelling. The only negative thing I can say is my room was facing the parking lot so I could see car lights through the curtain and hear people in the lot---maybe install blinds. I was very disappointed because I booked for a double bed room and they ended up being overbooked and could only get us a room with one bed. The service was not very good as I had to keep asking them for blankets and pillows, which they were out of blankets, for the pull out bed that was in the room. Breakfast was also okay but good coffee!
