The view, ambiance, staff, & setting were fabulous

The only thing I wish is that I could have stayed longer. This hotel put me right in the experience of Market Street, Philadelphia's character and the historic surroundings. The room smells of old wood, and there is a door opening to a little fire escape balcony that looked right out to the Delaware and onto Market Street. I could see the William Penn statue, many of the buildings with the infamous beautiful architecture, market street, the people, the Delaware and it's traffic, plus the room itself was phenominal. I loved the experience of staying in that old building right near all the action. Although I was staying between business meetings and had to leave after just one night, this hotel's setting gave me the chance to really get the feeling of experiencing Philly. I walked just a block to the oldest steakhouse around, had the best scallops ever, and a lovely wine. Then the music started, the streets filled up and it was so alive. I enjoyed every minute of my stay, and plan to visit again with my son to take in the history. This hotel is perfect for anyone, any occasion, and for any length of time. The breakfast is great too. Just smelling the waffles when I went downstairs the next morning made me happy. Two things to know, if you need to print anything, their computer is as old as the hotel and might take awhile! Also, the parking cost is $21 for an overnight stay. You should budget for that, or else take the risk of parking on the street, which after seeing the nightlife I don't hightly recommend. The parking attendents are there all night, and I felt very safe and secure even walking around by myself at late night, early morning hours. That is another benefit of this hotels location. Have fun!

nice and convenient

Stayed there over 2008 Army Navy weekend. Very convenient, could and did walk to China town and even walked back from Little Italy. Very accomadating staff, rooms a bit small, pillows can really be upgraded. Complimentary breakfast very nice, didn't eat in restaurant, understand that food was nice. Limited internet access, moderate exercise room, could use a treadmill. Overall, very clean, "quaint" best way to describe it. Very nice alternative to large hotel such as hyat or marriout, definately would stay there again.Front desk very accomadating, although not much help for restaurant recommendations.

Panorama Restaurant was wonderful.

Panorama Restaurant was wonderful. Don't know why I never went there when I lived in Philly. Missed a terrific dining experience. The Inn was very comfortable. Our room was tastefully decorated - nothing luxurious - but it was located very conveniently, near transportation, dining, movies, and within walking distance to center city shopping. It was quiet, even being in center city. We would stay there again.

This is a nice place in the heart of Philly. It feels like a bed and breakfast. We got a nice room with a fireplace and huge jacuzzi tub and it was quite romantic. The restaurant is pretty good as well. The wine flights are nice and they have a very large selection of wines. The food was also quite good. There was some sort of construction or work going on that we could hear in our room in the evening but it wasn't too bad. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and we would go back again.

It was nice to stay there even though

It was nice to stay there even though we felt a little expensive. Anyhow we enjoyed it a lot. Only thing we did not like was that there was no parking lot.
So we had to pay $20 for one-night stay.
But overall it was so great. Very kind room service.

We parked in the VALET parking area

pros: CleanlinessWe parked in the VALET parking area next to the hotel. The fee was VERY high...$20 for the night! We then entered the hotel. The lobby is terribly small with worn out seating. The front "desk" is tiny. We went up to our room which was very clean, with the only issue being a small amount of mold in the jacuzzi tub area. The tub was suppoed to be big enough for two but can really only fit one comfortably. The heater kicked on and went off through out the night and the pillows were the WORST ever! When someone walked in the room overhead, the light in our room shook and the room was hardly sound proof. Ours overlooked an alley with boarded up windows and port-o-potties.

When we went to get our car, the valet service (not owned by the hotel but really the only place to park), the valet service had put our car into a cement pole enough to dent the bumper. We then waited for 45 minutes for a manager to show up to take care of the problem.

Honestly, other than the hotel being really clean, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

we stayed in this hotel for a quickie

we stayed in this hotel for a quickie getaway on our first anniversary. i couldn't have asked for more. the room was beautiful & spacious with a great view and a jacuzzi tub that easily fit 2. the desk clerk was friendly and when i called to ask about an early check-in the woman i spoke with was warm & accomidating. the room was impeccably clean & well stocked with towels, bathrobes, soaps and the like. the property is in a great neighborhood and although it's very close to lots of bars & restaurants, it's just far enough away to not be bothered by party people on the weekends. the complimentary breakfast was sufficient. one thing i noticed was that it is kind of easy to hear the neighbors above and alongside, so if you are a light sleeper or like to sleep late that might be kind of irritating. overall i would have to say this place is near perfect. we travel frequently & stay in hotels often, so i was quite pleased to find such a place practically in our backyard. if you are visiting from out of town i would reccomend this over many of the chain hotels that charge the same if not more money for less character & convenience.

We stayed 2 nights -called an affordable getaway making it as cheap/cheaper than some major chains. The jacuzzi king was excellent with sunrise from the bedroom window over the Ben franklin Bridge. Its at the bottom of Market St. , has an excellent bar, italian restaurant and breakfast. Only downside is currently (july 2007) there is building renovation next door but this didnt involve any noise.
