Superb Location

This is our second stay in Luxor. Luxor is really nice but I would advice to go to Aswan by Faluca. Anyway we will return to Tutotel Hotel: unsophisticated but very friendly , warm and safe . Easy walking distance to sites!
We woke up early in the morning and had time to go to Luxor Temple, the bazar, Valley of Kings and return to the hotel to take the lunch. The hotel has also one small swimming pool but you will not use because of the incredible views.
The room was very clean and had every morning very funny decoration (even monkeys) and the bathroom was enough for what we needed. The roof is very quiet and the waiter there is really fantastic, you will not feel alone there, the staff very friendly and very polite .
The only disadvantage was the noise I heard from the room , but is early in the morning.
It is very nice to return from holidays happy and without problems and begin the daily routine…

extremely disappointed

Where do I start? We walked into a hotel with a beautiful, marbled lobby and very friendly security personnel.

We went to reception where the front desk person barely spoke English (which made our subsequent complaints fall into never-neverland.)

We had 2 single rooms.

The nicer of the 2 had such a strong odor that they said was insecticide. We were told that the odor would go away in 5 minutes. When our party returned to the room 8 hours later, it was still strong.

All the bedding, drapes and upholstery was worn and threadbare.

Neither of the rooms had working airconditioning.

The electrical outlets were not working in one of the rooms.

When one of the tables and beds was pulled back to fix the outlet, the dirt behind it was so thick, it must have been there for years. There were cobwebs around the drapes.

One of the waiters in the restaurant was extremely rude, not only to us, but was screaming to the other staff. The food was mediocre.

At the reception desk, the only helpful person was the afternoon/evening shift gentleman who did try to correct everything.

The location is great, but not good enough for either o us to stay there again.

1st experience when walking into this hotel was quite good, lots of marble, brass and chandeliers although the brass needed a good polishing, when entering the bedroom the bed covers were torn and threadbare,i went for a shower and i nearly burned all my skin off,all of a sudden the cold water stopped and the hot water came thru on its own,i told my partner who was going in next, and the opposite happened to him,the hot water stopped and he had to shower in cold water, next the lift stopped working and we had to walk down 11 flights of stairs to the bottom trying to squeeze between grotty single beds that had been folded up and left on the staircase and there was even one flight of stairs with i think last months breakfast still on a tray and was all covered in blue bottles,my friends rooms pillows were smelling and when she took them from the pillowcases they were all stained, after the 1st night sleep we went to breakfast and their was cold coffee and no tea and some rolls, the butter was on a large plate but someone had dropped ham in it and was just left,my friend who is very allergic to anything with pork finished up eating a dry bread roll for breakfast,no wonder we were the only ones in for breakfast, needless to say we moved hotels and went right into the centre of luxor to the hotel emilio,it had been totally refurbished in july and it was fantastic with spotless clean rooms and a hot and cold buffet breakfast and all the staff were very helpful, i can recommend the emilio

This is a quite new and spacious hotel

This is a quite new and spacious hotel just five minutes walk from the Temple of Luxor. Some rooms have wonderful views of the Nile without extra surcharge, but also some noise from main road. Good standard and clean rooms with balconies. They have a cafe and two restaurants, but the service was a bit slow. And if you want to party, there is a disco downstairs. Nice and helpful staff in reception, but not so good in English. Wonderful location, our balcony had a view to the temple of Hatshepsut. Small pool on the rooftop and some sunbeds, and a great view over the city!
