Great location but facilities disappointing

We tent camped here with our 2 year old son and parents over the 4th and were quite disappointed. The pool was nice but a little chilly, not heated. The playground equipment was missing parts and really not useable, which was disappointing for my son. Our campsite was located on a hill with no flat spot to pitch our tent so our tent and picnic tables were sitting at a 45 degree angle. Thankful it didn't rain. Bathrooms...disappointed that when you pay to take a shower the bathrooms wouldn't be more clean (about .25/7 minutes and you can't control the temperature of the water). The first night the water temperature was a little too warm for me and my son and the second night it was cold. Also, no soap at the sinks. Dumpsters extremely smelly. Would be nice if they would have recycling bins. It seemed that some rules were not enforced, quiet time and fireworks. Glad my son can sleep through noise. Also the wood we purchased there was wet (about $4.50 a bundle). Location is nice though. About 5 miles to bike to Lanesboro. Had a picnic lunch at the park in town and let our son play on the playground there, which was very nice.

Disappointing Experience

We tent camped at The Old Barn Resort and were extremely disappointed. There were no trees on the entire campground to provide shade from the sun during the morning, afternoon and early evening. Only late in the day was there any relief. Also, although there was a 10pm quiet time policy, there was absolutely no enforcement by the staff, and most, if not all of the campers surrounding our site displayed a complete lack of courtesy to those who sought a quiet night's stay. Loud, ceaseless noise continued until about 2:30am every night we were there (3 nights). When we asked our noisiest neighbors to please be quieter, we were met with hostility.

Although the rates and location was good, the negatives far outweighed the positives. The Old Barn is not the place for those looking for a quiet, relaxing place to camp. We will not camp there again.

A good stay for our family!

We stayed with our five children in the Old Barn Resort Hostel.

This was an excellent option for us because in Lanesboro there are a lot of Bed and Breakfasts and they usually do not cater to large families.

It was very easy to make meals in the kitchen, if you are grilling on the outdoor grill and cooling the cold foods in the refrigerator.

I did not hear a lot of the upstairs bar noise. The bathrooms were as clean as to be expected with a lot of Fourth of July guests. The pool is just right for kids. The frogs croaking at night were a lot of fun to listen to!

Go to Lanesboro if you have the chance, the Amish tour was well worth the money. Make sure your driver takes you to an Amish bakery and basket making farm.

The Hostel was worth it and we would do it again in a minute!

Endless noise, and a dirty bathroom

We stayed in the hostel, but we have previously stayed at the campground. The bunkhouses were clean, but we had to suffer endless noise until 1:30 in the morning and beginning again at 5:30 am. There was loud music being played from the staff upstairs after the restaurant/bar closed. The staff also said they were cleaning to explain the noise from 5:30-7:30. The men's bathroom was old, and not clean throughout our weekend stay. The ladies restroom was old, but reasonably clean. I will stay somewhere else next time in Lanesboro.

All facilties very close and convient. Family oriented with both biking, pool, golf and so much more. The resort is a little far from town but still has the small/hometown feel.
