Extremely Disappointing

This place looks nice on the website, but even before I walked through the front doors I knew that something was off about this place... The front entranceway is covered in moldy green carpet and tacky decor and probably hasn't been redecorated sinc

not so bad

I was a little worried when I read the reviews. When we arrived I thought wow this place looks nice. Then we checked in and I felt comfortable as we walked into the lobby. The hotel clerk was warm and friendly. I felt like this was a home away from home. I thought they were on to something with the massage chairs. When my family and I are out we try not to focus on the negative unless it is a big deal. We usually do not point out if something is not quite right or we are not completely satisfied. However some things went wrong, and I was comfortable telling the staff. Nothing major was wrong and when you spoke with the staff they were attentive, welcome to your complaints and really tried to fix things. The staff is what makes your stay pleasant not the amenities when you travel. I was a flight attendant for 3 years with a major airline and spent alot of time in hotels. I think I can make a fair review based on my experience for me and my family. The employees are on top of their game and when all the bugs and renovations are worked out, this hotel will have nothing but fantastic reviews. Everything cost alot of money and you can see that this hotel is being renovated in steps. There is always room for improvement and the hotel is old, but there is just something about its' charm and unique stlye. I would love to come back and see it as it is worked on. My one piece of advice to hire an interior decorator for the rooms, lobby, and eat in area. They have good ideas now but could use some expert advice on pulling it all together. Also maybe some super vision in the pool and lounge areas because parents now a days seem to let there children run wild. I can't wait to come back.

Pleasant stay; good value for the price.

The staff was very pleasant. While it was small, my room was clean and the bathroom had been recently updated with marble and new fixtures. Good water pressure in the shower, and a hair dryer with power: I was happy there. When I first sat on the bed, it didn't give much and I thought it was hard, but sleeping on it was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was great, and included you-make waffles, a fresh fruit salad, yogurt, pastries and toast, dry cereal, juice, and more. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and was satisfied with this bargain in Newport. I was only there to sleep, so didn't visit the pool or use the internet or any other amenities besides the breakfast.

Wonderful Stay

I never write a review but felt I must for this place. It was a great place to stay. The staff was very helpful. We had a slight problem; the jets in the whirlpool were not working, within 5 minutes of reporting it to the front desk, a service man was there and fixed the problem within 5 minutes. The hotel even gave us a free bottle of Champagne for our trouble. The room was clean and comfy. Although they use Temperpedic bed, we found it to be really hard. The entire place was clean and well kept. The breakfast looked good. In a nutshell, we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it

Not Recommended!

I normally don't do reviews but this place was unbelivable (and not in a good way). We arrived around 4:30 (check in was at 4:00) our room was not ready. We waited for over half an hour to get fully checked in. (It might have even been longer but I know we waited at least that long.) After a maze of smelly passageways and stairs with no rhyme or reason we found our room in the basement. Good thing there was no fire. I am not sure if the broken Exit light was even working. We would have never found our way out.
The room did seemed clean except for a bad smell and a long black hair in the bathroom sink. I went out and bought an air freshing candle and that barely did the trick.
The air conditioning did work in the room, I did get a hot shower, there was a morning breakfast of toast, cold cereal, bagels, mixed fruit and you could make your own waffle, plus mik, juce and coffee. I never looked at the pool area.
They advertise wireless internet access but internet access is only in their "lounge" area. Which had no air conditioning and that weekend we had temperatures in the 90's and I swear that room had to easily been about 100. They had to know it too because there were huge fans running in the room.
When I booked on line they said they renovated I think in 2005. That is very misleading. I am not sure what they renovated. I am glad I didn't book a second night.

Don't stay here!! Disgusting!!

I have never experienced such a disgusting hotel in my life. The pictures online are decietfful. The front desk attendants were wearing stained shirts and were untidy in appearance. The lobby is ok however the oversized massage chair amidst the array of old stained chairs had no logic. Perhaps that was their justification of "SPA" in their name. The hallway was dingy and musty smelling. The room was so small I felt like on was in a cruise stateroom (except for the fact that staterooms are clean). The batthroom was so small that you had to basically stand on the toilet to close the door. The toilet had a black ring in it!!!! The bedding was an old dingy throw with a natted blanket underneath. (the kind that the dog inherits before you throw it away) Than pillows were flat. There was mold in the mini fridge. The room was musty smelly and when we attempted to open the wimdow we discovered that we could not because there was some sort of passageway outside the window with another set of windows. The carpentry was shabby and the carpet was soatained I would not dare take my shoes off.

I suppose the owner justifies this Trailer Park Inn as a sutible hotel because they had temperpedic beds. Funny thing is how do you have a luxery bed with nasty old bedding???!!!

If you think that it could not be this bad let me give you a clue....My husband and I had driven up after a long work week in New York City. We fought traffic and what should have been a 2.5 hr ride took us five hours. We checked in and just wanted to shower and crash to rest up fora great weekend in Newport. Within ten minutes of checking in we checked out and drove 2.5 hours back home to NYC. There were no vacancies in Newport that night so our preferred option was forfiet our weekend and drive all the way back home just to sleep in a clean, good smelling place with bedding that is a pleasure to rest your head on. I can not warn travelers enough.

Worst value ever

This place was the biggest rip-off. The website is deceiving; we stayed there with a large group of people and supposedly got a "group discount", but the rooms were rediculously overpriced. I have stayed in some not-so-nice places, but felt okay about it because I was paying a not-so-bad price. The continental breakfast was barely that. The rooms were fairly clean but there was a little bit of a musty odor. People shouldn't be allowed to put a massage chair in the lobby and an oversized bathtub in the room and call the place a "spa". We spent the rest of the weekend paying less money and sleeping in a much, much nicer room actually in Newport.

Location and room. The spa and pool were closed and I was expecting both. The staff was bickering among themselves over reservations and room assignments. I was expecting to use the pool and spa and they were closed. I personally think this should have been revealed at the time of purchase.

The restaurant was very convenient. The buffet was priced right and delicious. The hotel was a great location to visit Newport. Great shopping! At night the Hotel sign was not recognizable. It was written over a Ramada Inn sign. The hotel was great for the price. We were visiting Newport for the weekend with friends and it was very easy traveling there. The breakfast buffet in the hotel was very convenient. We took advantage of the shopping in the area.
