If you've ever wondered what it would be like to live in low income housing, please check into this Motel. I understand it's Vegas and right off the Strip, but the loud music, people hoopin and hollerin outside your room, the bed shaking as people walk outside your door - Wow! I definitely did not feel safe enough to let my wife walk to the car by herself. We have a dog and I had to take him occasionally oustide and I carried pepper spray with me. Look, I'm a middle of the road kind of guy ($$$) so maybe I shouldn't have stayed at this Motel but when you go on vacation like we do, all you want is a clean bed and four walls. Feeling safe counts for a lot - lessoned learned for me.

The light may be on at this motel but the staff at the front desk and it's Mgrs. lights are OUT. Had a next day air sent to the motel, signed by one of their staff
and they couldn't find it for a day and a half. Mgr. tells us she is too busy right now to look for it. Finally it was found behind a cabinet. They thought it was kind of funny......NOT ME!! Also reserved a non-smoking room, went into the room and it was nasty with the smell of smoke.

My husband and I stayed for two nights

My husband and I stayed for two nights the first week of Sept. 06. It was not our first choice, but it will be from now on in Vegas. We were at Circus Circus, but left (another whole review).

We were in a bind due to the fact that we had to find another hotel immediately. We were happy to know there was a handicap accessible room available and the price sounded good. ($59.95/ night).

We had to leave Circus Circus by 11am and Motel 6 would not allow us to check in until 3pm. We had to sit in the lobby for about 3 hours with all our luggage in tote. Since both my husband and myself are in wheelchairs, going anywhere with the luggage was out of the question so all we could do was wait. And wait. And wait... I hear other travelers saying they were able to check in their luggage and be on their way having fun. But not here. I guess that might be one of the downsides to an inexpensive hotel.

Once we did get into the room, we were pleasantly surprised. It was basic with one Queen size bed, nightstand, lamp and television with cable. The room was very clean and smelled clean as well.

The bathroom was great! For wheelchair users, this can be a real issue. There was plenty enough room for even my husband's power wheelchair to move around. Both of us were easily able to get ready in the bathroom at the same time. Not many bathrooms will allow two wheelchairs at once.
The roll-in shower also had a drop down shower chair.

The amenities were scarce but we expect that ahead of time. There was shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Plenty of towels and wash cloths. They were replaced daily as needed.

The staff was pleasant even though we had the check-in issues. They were happy to assist every time we called with a question.

There is an on-site convenience store which carries most any items you may have forgotten. There is a limited selection of food, drink etc. Just basic convenience store but very handy right on the property.

A small cafe is located within the property which we ate breakfast at both mornings. The service was very quick. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We both had a breakfast special and came out under $15 for both our meals. The food was delivered promptly, fresh and hot. Everything was cooked as we had ordered it. Seeing and hearing about the prices of food on the strip, we were happy to have found this little hidden gem for food.

Many people will look down on this place because it is a Motel 6 among all the lavish hotels on the Strip. We could not have asked for a better motel with just the things we needed.

Although this property is not technically "On The Strip", I can say for certain it was much faster to get onto the strip than in the large hotel we were in at first. With the larger hotels, you have to go through a long carpeted hall, wait on the elevator to arrive, let everyone on and off for the many floors you go down, Then wind through another busy crowded lobby to finally make your way to the door to the outside.

With the Motel 6, all we had to do was open our front door and make our way down a short side street and we were on the Strip.

A good value with nice rooms

I stayed in May 2005. I couldn't find anyone to travel with at the time and wanted a good bargain since I wouldn't be sharing the cost.

I was hesitant about the hotel brand in a city like Vegas. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is an easy walk to the strip, just a few blocks from the Tropicana. The rooms were plain and basic but extremely clean. Their staff was very helpful. They had a nice pool. I had a room toward the front of the property. I'm not sure about the rear rooms. The hotel is only 2 stories but with 600 (?) rooms it is spread out over a few blocks.

My brother and his wife want to go this year and I'm trying to convince them to stay there. I'm hoping the property has been well maintained since last year. With all the money we would save on a room, we can eat, drink and gamble a lot more.

All Review Photos Motel 6 has three

All Review Photos Motel 6 has three different properties in Las Vegas, and I've stayed at them all. Motel 6, as you may know, is a very "basic" type of motel. All of the motels throughout the country have the same bedspreads, draperies, carpeting, desks, chairs, and luggage racks. Therefore, the guest rooms pretty much look the same from one motel to another, no matter what city or state you might be in. Obviously, though, I like this chain, or I wouldn't keep staying in them. I'm not a "stay in my room" kind of person. I can lounge around plenty in my own house, so when I'm away from home, I stay on the go. I never see much of my motel room, so I don't feel the need to pay much for it. It just has to be clean and safe, allow free phone calls, and have a free parking lot that's not a half-mile away, like most hotels seem to have. This chain has drawbacks, though. The maintenance level varies from one Motel 6 to another. In the past year alone, I've stayed in locations that were well-kept, so-so, and really needed work on either room repairs or grounds keeping. Before you book a room at Motel 6, the thing you should decide is whether or not you're willing to take a chance with such drawbacks in order to save money. If you're not, don't even try to stay in a Motel 6. There's no sense of luxury here, and you're not going to return home from your vacation feeling like you've "pampered yourself." Unless you're a budget-minded person, you'd really be happier somewhere else. Now, for the specifics… The motel at 195 E. Tropicana Ave. is the chain's largest property, with over 600 rooms. It's really, truly within comfortable walking distance of the Strip. This property has a nice pool, and even a little on-site store selling snacks, newspapers, and souvenirs. For sightseers, I would recommend trying this Motel 6 first. Almost as close to the Strip is the property at 5085 S. Industrial Rd. It's not as well maintained, it only has 139 rooms, and the walk to the Strip involves climbing the I-15 overpass. Still, for a budget motel, that's not a bad location if the other one is filled up. The third property, at 4125 Boulder Hwy, is really way out of the way for a sightseer, even with a rental car. It's good for people like me, with business elsewhere in town. This location successfully avoids traffic jams and pedestrian hordes. ALWAYS call ahead or check the price via the internet. For the Labor Day weekend, the highest rates mentioned in their published directory don't top $65. In actuality, the rate at all three properties is $80! Now, that's not "budget" anymore!

This is not a bad place if you need a place just to sleep for couple hours , while you're visiting Vegas. The location is great because it's close to the strip. The room is standard and clean. Plus, you can beat the price.

I stayed at this Motel 6 for a week while waiting for my apt. to be ready, its a real good price at $41.99 a night (week nights) but the rooms are very out dated and its parking lot seems to be a local hangout for the city's homeless...overall, you cant beat the price if your looking for a place for just a night or two.

Not a bad place by N S. at InsiderPages

This is a not a bad place to stay. It was one of the big fight weekend in Las Vegas and all of the hotels on the strip were completely booked. I had a guest drove in with his girlfriend from Flagstaffs, AZ for the fight. They've just won fight tickets from their local radio staion that morning and decided to come to Vegas. Of course they didn't have any reservation at any of the hotel. I called every major hotels and no one would take them in so I gave them an option of calling Motel 6 which was not to far from the strip and in fact they can walk accross the street to the fight venue. They weren't sure if they want to stay at Motel 6, but they had no choice otherwise they will have to sleep in the car. The next morning they came back to thank me for helping them finding a place to sleep. They told me also that the place was not bad and in fact very clean and cheap. I was glad that I helped out a couple even though I was not able to get them to stay at my work.
