We are in the process of contacting the Better Business Bureau, their local COC, and others. We checked in, paid $80.00 cash to the desk clerk, went into the room long enough to start unloading our bags, and noticed the filth of it all. My throat started closing up and my children started sneezing and as we looked around noticed the bedspread was pulled back, coffee stains and writing on the pad of paper (they hadn't even pulled the used sheet off),and a heavy odor of man's cologne. It was as if someone had just left the room and apparent to us it had NOT been cleaned. We immediately reported this to the front desk clerk and asked to be moved to another room and he denied our request and told us the check in pprwrk says "no refunds". We had just handed him CASH over the counter! We pursued this matter and had him call the owner to "get permission" to move us to another room (they had PLENTY! which should have told us something from the start!)The kid was scared to call the owner stating that "he'll be mad at me" but did call only to turn and tell us the owner said "NO REFUND - NO CHANGING ROOMS"!We kept trying to pursue this and the owner would not answer the front desk clerks calls. We waited for almost 2 hrs hoping they would do the honorable thing. We couldn't believe this. So, we headed down the road to a local Comfort Inn and had a wonderful experience there and this awful, dirty place kept our money!! UNBELIEVABLE!! We started talking with local business people as we were there that night/next morning and the owner has a reputation for this kind of thing. I stayed once in Jan 07 for the indoor pool. By the time I got into my room I zonked out and never used it. LOL I wasn't impressed then but thought everyone deserves a 2nd chance so stayed again July 07. Still didn't use the pool, too many kids in there but that's not the hotel's fault. I'm still not impressed. The window in the room that was broken still is not fixed. Washcloths & sheets are stained. Walls are dirty. Staff is mildly friendly until they get your money, then if you request something they make you feel like you are putting them out.
