Probably won't go back

Overall I liked this place; however, there were some issues. I will list them below:
Good stuff:
* Great location, beautiful old hotel, wonderful views of Dallas
* Service was very friendly, pretty helpful
* Cookies and milk! Yessss!
* Free drinks between 5:30-6:30 - wish it were a bit longer though.
* The room was very cute and clean (water stain on ceiling but it didn't bother me), loved the huge shower. The hallways were like something out of the 1920s, very detective mystery-ish.
Negatives:
* No free internet?!? I can get that at Holiday Inn Express! $9.95 charge.... :(
* No ice machine on floor - had to go to the CREEPY 25th floor for ice - just one strange little room with exposed pipes, a coke machine, and some washing machines. So wierd.
* Those elevators are cool & authentic - but very slow - and when you're running late to check out the last think you need is slowwwww elevators! Allow at least 20 minutes to get downstairs, no kidding - if it's close to checkout time those slow elevators are also FULL of other people trying to get down to check out.
* No parking at all! And valet parking is $22 per night! Wow wish I'd been told about this before I got there.

We loved the Magnolia !

We loved the Magnolia. It is in a historical building on a plaza. It was conveniently located to many area restaraunts and several area attractions, including the Dallas Museum of Art and the Dallas Aquarium, which are in walking distance. There's even a Starbuck's inside! You can also catch the DART outside across the street. There is a CVS drugstore and several banks nearby, as well. It was very clean and very comfortable. The club areas are very relaxing and the hotel staff is absolutely awesome. The hotel offers a free hot breakfast buffet with Starbuck's coffee each morning, free wine/beer/soft drinks in the early evening, and free milk and freshly baked cookie buffet before bed time nightly. There are computers and printers available for your use. We enjoyed it all, and couldn't have been more pleased with the accomodations or the service at the Magnolia...they are great!!!

I spent 1 night in this hotel and I loved it. It is a wonderful old building, downtown location, only a few blocks from JFK musem. There is also an Starbucks on the building. You don't need your car, excelent location. The room was clean I got a room on the 18th floor, very nice view. The hotel offered a complimentary brunch from 8:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m. Breakfast was very good. I do recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a nice location, nice staff, good beds.
I paid approx 123$, I got a last online deal, including tax and vallet (20$).

I reserved a standard room and it was very small and oddly shaped, however, the hotel location was excellent and the staff very accommodating. $20+ for overnight parking seems high.

Only great thing about this hotel was the location and the fact that many celebritys come in and out of there. Staff is semi-friendly. Large turn over rate, my last day with them I had what I thought was going to be a privlage of staying there, absolutley the nastiest bed ive ever layed in. Hallway carpets are stained, elevators are slow and very creepy (stuck in them on numerous occasions), and construction on the higher floors were loud. Beware of this Hotel, now am working the the NEW Hilton Bella Harbor located just 20 minutes down the road in Rockwall. Beautiful Hotel, great location, and amazing lakefron side.

Where NOT to stay while visiting Dallas

Don't judge this hotel by it's website! The rooms were mediocre at best; uncomfortable beds, poor lighting, and rusty water flowed through the faucets! The service was friendly, but snail like. The hallways were dirty and poorly lit, left me feeling unsafe and unsatisfied. But I think the ultimate disappointment was that this conference hotel didn't have an internet connection the entire 3 days I was there for work?!
Definintely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

If you like your money and time compromised then this is the place to go.
Upon making reservations nothing was said about the "extra" charges. After speaking to 3 different people to get directions to the hotel we finally made it there only to realize there is no parking. Parking is valet only and a charge of $20.00 each time is added to your fee. There is no eating establishments open after 3pm in the immediate area so you are forced to eat at their hotel or order room service. We chose room service, after signing the credit card ticket for one price I later find there was a different (larger charge of course) placed against my account. The food was not spectacular, or even worth mentioning.
The fact that I agreed to pay the rate of $130.00 + taxes upon making reservations meant nothing, in the end I was charged $250.00. I did not drink the $5.00 bottled water, use the $3.00 starch or break anything. Apparently this is just "policy" and if I wish to be refunded for the unused portion of my charge I have to call back "tomorrow" for the last 3 days to speak to the front manager... I personally don't have the time to track down what should not have been charged in the first place. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless they have nothing to do with their time or money.
