great locale in london

Being a Yank in Britain these days is not a bargain, but for the money and location you can't be the Hilton Park Lane. A large hotel that holds conferences (its not a boutique), its got some super restaurants and bars. Trader Vics and the Pop champagne bar are super cocktail/drink options if you don't feel like walking a block to a pub. Rooms aren't huge but are well turned out. Beds are comfy, they just upgraded the rooms so nice flat screen tvs and nice lighting, super dsl (but its not cheap - but it is the fastest of any hotel dsl I've ever used) and nice bathrooms. For a London hotel in the Sheraton/Hilton/Le Meridien/Hyatt vein, its one of the best chain hotels. The park is righ tacross the street, Green Park tube is close by and there's a lot to do/see in walking distance. Great hotel staff who try to help you with your needs. Great gym - just redone, nice Precor machines and there was a private trainer hte day I was there. Some of the nicest houskeeping staff I've seen. Great hotel, great locale, if only the dollar was stronger!

Bed Bugs

At stayed at this holtel in early June 07. The hotel is conveniently located at Terminal 4 at London Heathrow. The rooms are incredibly quiet given you can see planes taking off from your bedroom window!

However I was seriously bitten by bedbugs. The Customer Relations person I spoke to on the morning of my departure acknowledged there had been an infestation 8 months earlier and said they would contact me. However all the correspondence I received denied any such problem and refused to even reimburse my Hilton Honors points. I stayed for 2 nights and had 14 bites the first night and I sprayed my sheets with bug repellent the second night thinking perhaps there were fleas in the bed. I received 4 more bites that night. I had no idea about bedbugs before this experience. Please Google "bedbugs" and find their feeding habits and how you can scan a room to detect their presence.
