My wife and I syayed at this hotel while our house was being renovated. The staff and the manager David were always very proffessional and helpful and was always there to assist us with our needs. The room was very clean and comfortable and the microwave and fridge really came in handy. They also offer a nice continental breakfast every morning. If you are looking for a clean, safe and economical hotel the Jolly roger is the place.

What a great bargain

We loved this nice and clean hotel located near Venice Beach where we were working a few days. The rooms were very comfortabe and very clean. And the breakfast had a nice choice of cereal waffles and fruits which was served in their nice courtyard. THe staff were very accomodating especially Dan who went out of his way to assist with our departing flight to Germany. All this for $105.00 was quiet a bargain.

Perfect for what we needed.

We stayed at the Jolly Roger in May 2008 for our daughter's USC graduation. It was perfect for this trip. We were only a block from her apartment, so very convenient. Our room was spacious and clean. There was a mini-frig and microwave. It was quite pleasant to have breakfast (included) in the courtyard listening to the waterfall. The hottub was kept clean. The pool was older and rather small, but was quite useable & clean.
One of the desk clerks was from Iowa...very friendly & helpful.
The biggest disappointment is that we stayed away from the Jolly Roger because of some of the reviews...we could have stayed here many more times over the last couple years and saved lots of $$ and been closer to the beach!! It isn't a 5 star hotel, but for the money, it is a great value!

One of best hotels in the Marina

pros: clean affordableI stayed at the Jolly Roger Hotel in July and I enjoyed my stay. Our room and the hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful and proffessional. The manager David was very helpful and even allowed a 3:00 pm checkout at no extra charge due to my husband not feeling well. The breakfast was much better than the average. I would highly reccomend the Jolly Roger Hotel to anyone looking for a clean, well ran economical hotel the Marina

The gentleman at the desk when we checked in was a little on the loopy side with constant chatting and lots of jokes, but he was funny so it was no big deal. The hotel was amazingly clean and comfortable for such a great price and so convenient to our friend's apartment and the marina! We slept very well and my husband usually has trouble sleeping in an unfamiliar bed.

DONT STAY HERE

i was given a room that was infested with bugs ... dirty windows, floors etc.
i was treated with discourtesy by the manager who refused to refund the credit card charge i paid in advance even though i returned the keys and found a more pleasant and cleaner accomodation.

No customer service at Jolly Roger

After 20 hours of no internet service, which was a prime reason for booking here, the desk man called me an idiot and threatened me with violence for asking him if there was any effort under way to correct the problem. Also, the hotel is filthy, with stained toilets and old beds. A nightmare. And staff gets angry at being asked for a refund so that the customer can move to another motel. Jolly Roger in marina del Rey is a nightmare - mean, dirty and dangerous.

It is a terrific location. There is courteous and helpful staff. It is a decent value by California standards.

Bad customer service

pros: noneThe manager's name is David, he is a people hater. He is rude and very unprofessional. He told me to "go to hell" when I asked him why he was raising my room rate from $85 a night to $105 and he told me he wanted me out of the hotel if I couldn't pay it. The cleaning staff does a bad job in cleaning up the rooms and they are dirty. Do yourself a favor and pay a few dollars more to find a nice safe place. This place is definitely not worth it!
