I made it a point to go back to the JW while back in SF for business. Very modern , clean and comfortable. Nice staff.
Convenient to most SF points of interest and right in the heart of the shopping area for the ladies.
Very nice impressive bar area and lobby.
Be sure to park accross the street to save money vs the valet.

Nestled a few blocks away from Union

Nestled a few blocks away from Union Square, the JW Marriot was a comfortably luxurious stay. The room itself was well kept, clean, and elegant. With an extremely comfortable bed and a great view, we enjoyed what time we spent there. There are some cable TV channels available if you are feeling lazy, which was great when we were tired after a long day and just needed to relax. The shower, however, was a bit on the small side, which was odd.The dining options at the hotel were delicious, but very expensive for what you get. The fitness center is large and clean, but the business center is way too expensive to really utilize ($0.45/minute just for internet). The elevators are fast and large, so you'll never have to wait long to get to the lobby or ground floor. The staff goes out of their way to help, making you feel like a VIP. Overall, the service was top notch. The location of any hotel in San Francisco is imperative, especially if you don't have a car like us. While it could be closer to Union Square (and thus the Powell St. bart), the walk to the nearest bart is an easy one. In addition, there was usually a cab waiting at the hotel thanks to how slow business in SF is right now. Overall, this hotel was a pleasant one. Though it didn't blow me out of the water, it was a fine stay that I wouldn't mind repeating.

Overall, my wife and I liked this hotel.

Overall, my wife and I liked this hotel. But, for a flagship JW Marriott property, we were not overly impressed. The hotel has a very modern styling with no greenery in sight. The location is 2 blocks from the trolley, and 5 blocks to BART. Shopping at Union Square is 2 blocks away. Parking at the hotel was $45 per night; acroos the street is $15. All restraunt recommendations and tours made by concierge were outstanding. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable. Again, very modern. The seperate shower was very small. Two seperate sinks would be nice.

Very nice hotel with exceptional service and spacious rooms. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is currently under renovation, so there??????s not a good place to eat on site right now, but you can order room service!

I stayed here over Christmas time and would you believe I left the car for literally 5-10 minutes parked outside so that I can check into the hotel, and the Valet people outside said we MUST leave our keys with them. So we did, a little hesitant, and guess what. THEY STOLE OUR RADAR DETECTOR SO FAST. We left our car parked in a different location, no signs of break ins AT ALL, and this hotel would not admit that they stole it. This detector was left in the glove compartment, and they must have took it very fast because they broke a piece of it off. We DEMANDED to see footage and they would not let us when they claimed that they videotape everything outside. THIS IS A 5 STAR HOTEL PEOPLE - THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE! This hotel was especially not worth the price when they are thieves! They wouldn't even reimburse us or anything, they just kept saying it wasn't them when CLEARLY it was. This car was not touched nor used at all the entire trip EXCEPT by their valet service who JUST was supposed to hold the keys in case they needed to move the car. They also switched their story on us like 5 times which was PROOF they took it. It took 4 months of them to supposedly try to figure out what happened, probably so that we wouldn't write a review on them. They did nothing to help or solve the matter but waste time. They are encouraging their personnel to steal things from people's cars because the have a circle where everyone is involved and split the costs. I've heard about hotels doing this, and would have never thought the JW marriott hotel would stoop so low. DON"T EVER STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!! I will NEVER stay in a JW marriott or marriott related hotels EVER AGAIN. They lost me and my family as a customer, as well as every friend and person that I know of, and hopefully YOU. I've valet my car at restaurants and various 3 star hotels or under with that radar detector in it and NOTHING ever happened. For a 5 star hotel to do such a thing, SO LOW... so VERY low. Please tell all your friends not to stay at Marriott hotels. They need a serious change before anyone should ever go back.

On my last stay in San Francisco I

On my last stay in San Francisco I stayed at the Marriot on Market st. and I'd reccomend that hotel over this one. The location and overall hotel was just a little bit better than the JW. The rooms are little bigger, there is a big and beautiful lobby with a starbucks, the muni is right outside the hotel, and the bart and cable car are about a block away. At the JW the complimentary town car is nice, but only available 7-930am and 530-9pm and it's on first come, first serve basis, so don't count on it. The bed was amazing! the tub in the bathroom is nice and big. The nights were quiet, I didn't hear any traffic on the street. The fitness room is a decent size with a variety of equipment. My only complaints are the distance to all the transportation systems (about 4-5 blocks) and I never got the replacement water bottles that I asked for.
