Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Hotel has been renovated. Nice but nothing luxurious. Service was fine. Even upgraded to a mini-suite because they were all out of king size beds as we booked. Self-parking is $15 and valet is $25. No problems.

My wife would like to stay at the JW

My wife would like to stay at the JW Marriott Houston every time we're in Houston (usually twice a year) if we could. X (I believe) at the front desk provided excellent customer service. Our room and furnishings were nice, and the housekeeping staff did a great job (we did leave a tip for them). One odd thing about the sink area, however, is that there is no place to hang towels or washcloths (no towel rack or bar). Not sure what's up with that. We especially enjoyed the bar/lounge area on the lobby level, which includes flat panel TVs in separate alcove seating areas. This was nice for us to sit with family, relax, and have evening conversation, a drink, and an evening snack. Of course, the immediate proximity to the Galleria is a plus.

Classy hotel

Modern rooms, all non-smoking. Comfortable beds, lovely dressing area. Wonderful housekeeping service -- I received a call from the woman cleaning my floor, who noticed the "do not disturb" sign hanging but wanted to see if I needed towels, etc. I can't think of any other hotel calling to ask if you need anything! Service at the front desk was quick and friendly. I never had to wait more than 30 seconds for anyone. Climate controls in the room are just like at home: you set the temperature, and it adjusts without noise. They thought of everything! If you need something that is unattainable at the hotel, there's a Walgreen's next door, and one of the nation's largest (and hippest) shopping malls directly across the street. Dining tip: check out Grotto, which is located down the street at the Loop 610 intersection. Wonderful Italian food. I will definitely go back.

Its better then the hotel derek

There were so many great things about this hotel. The staff was really friendly the features were insane. An indoor basketball court are you crazy. The fitness center was a 10, tvs on every station. wow. Located right in the middle of everywhere it was great. Only draw back was the rooms with two beds use twin beds instead of fulls like most hotels so your sleeping tight if you are sharing a bed but atleast there comfortable. The hotel derek is nice but all the features that come with this hotel give it a edge. One more thing the tv's are crazy tight they are high def and so sweet.

I did not have any problems with this

I did not have any problems with this hotel stay. From beginning to end it was enjoyable and relaxing. The valet service was very helpful always ready with directions to nearby attractions and even brought my car around so I could get forgotten items. The workout area was wonderful with every machine you could need along with free weight. Afterward the area was always stocked with ice cold water bottles and even fresh fruit. You don't have to ask for anything they are always there to help. The pool was a little small if you are trying to exercise or do laps, but great for smaller kids to enjoy. The beds are always my favorite part with more pillows and blankets than you could need, ,but make you want to stay in bed forever. The hotel was across from the galleria and had plenty of local restuarants to chose from. My son and I nejoyed the comfortable relaxing atmosphere that Texas is known for.
