Clean, modern, and decent price - would recommend

This is a modern hotel in the western part of Hong Kong Island. Stayed there in January 2006, for 3 days. Rooms are clean, but somewhat small (though not tiny), and staff was very friendly. Paid less than $90 per night. This hotel is sometimes available for around US$60-$70 per night, but is a good deal up to $120. When I go to Hong Kong, this is one of the hotels I usually consider.

One potential downside of this hotel for some travelers is the location. This hotel is about a 10 minute walk or streetcar ride beyond the westernmost subway station (Sheung Wan) on Hong Kong Island. Moderately close to Hong Kong University, and close to the Macau Ferry terminal. Nice, lively, and typical HK neighborhood, with some OK restaurants and very few tourists. Unfortunately no free internet.

Also, compare to Hotel Jen, which is nearby and similar in quality and price.

Having just returned from Hong Kong for

Having just returned from Hong Kong for a weeks vacation, I would like to say my stay at the Island Pacific was great but...The rooms we had were way too small!. The was was very friendly and helpful, and went out of the way to make your stay enjoyable. After arriving at the hotel at 11PM local time after a 16 hour flight, we were assigned room 815, upon entering the room we were in a state of shock to find 2 twin beds in a room no larger then 10' by 10'. The next morning we requested a room change and assigned to Room 1816, which was a bit bigger. about 10' x 14' excluding the bathroom. We grew accustumed to the room. But the staff more then made up for it. Pleasant and helpfulThe hotel offers a all you can eat breakfast for $140HK doillars or approx. $20 US dollars. It was very nice. This hotel is very easy to get to, 1 block away from the Kennedy Town tramp line and several bus lines including the number 973 bus which goes directly to Stanley Market. This bus is a gtreat way to tour island on the cheap! If you are planning a stay in Hong Kong and don't mind the lack of space then the Island Pacific is ok to stay, but if you need more space then another hotel maybe of more interest to you or a more western style hotel. The fitness equipment needs updating. The outmoted treadmil, eliptical and bike all seem more window dressing then for actual use.The

If you are in town during the low

If you are in town during the low season then you get value for your money. Location is good if you prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle downtown Kowloon. Transportation is very convenient. Bed is hard but hey they are good for your posture. Very clean and staff extremely helpful. The entrance is on the lower ground and if there is a severe thunderstorm like the one on June 7, 2008 then you are stuck in the hotel, no way out, because the streets will be flooded, including the only entrance/exit to the hotel. will come back to this hotel again
