pros: Attention to Detail was ImpeccableGuys, I gotta tell you this is THE hotel to take the ladies to. Period. You walk in - big romantic pictures on the wall. SCORE. Bar in the lobby. SCORE. The room was spotless, the interiors were period and romantic. 100% quality service. The best hotel I've stayed at lately. Bar none.

We recently stayed two nights at the Hotel deLuxe and honestly have no complaints, in fact, we are so thrilled to have found such a fantastic hotel for such a great deal. The hotel is elegant, staff is extremely responsive, courteous and professional, the room was perfect (they even upgraded us), love the toiletries being an Aveda fan, just don't touch the $6 bottle of water! LOL Seriously, who expects to pay less than that for a bottle of water in a hotel room. Yes, you can hear the MAX light rail, but it is not loud by any means and actually, we enjoyed being in the city. The bed was like a dream! Being 8 months pregnant I'm not sleeping really well, so I truly appreciated the pillow menu. I kid you not, my two pillows I requested were at our door in about 5 minutes. We also loved the shower head and are looking at one like it for our home. Room service was extremely fast and tasty, which our 8 year old appreciated.
Breakfast at Gracie's was delicious, the coffee was superb and the Eggs Benedict was perfect. Service was outstanding. We can't recommend Hotel deLuxe enough.

pros: Wonderful detail honoring Hollywood of the 40's & 50'sMy husband and I live in PDX and were looking for a local hotel for a weekend stay that had something special. We also knew that we wanted to spend more time "in" than "out'. Hotel deLuxe has that "something special". It honors Hollywood's golden era with lovely decor. The room was excellent with attention to detail in its setup and appointment. The staff made us feel very welcome. We ate at the restaurant which was good (not knock-your-socks-off quality but good) and enjoyed the bar (smaller, cozy) and tried a few of the special themed drinks (i.e.: "The Elizabeth Taylor") which were great.

I definitely would go back and also would recommend it to others who want something special that boutique hotels offer.

pros: Ambience, staff, bar, romantic, ammenities, parking, & pet friendlyWe stayed at the Hotel Deluxe for the Past 2 New Year's Eves. They nailed it this year! Between the wonderful rooms. I love all the great amenities (pillow, i pod and spiritual menus to name a few). The champagne was flowing, hors d'oeuvres were amazing ie blue cheese poppers, Stolen Sweets was the best possible choice for a band, and Nuvrei passed desserts YUM, The Hotel staff from the top down was amazing. The drinks in the driftwood were divine. They have an amazing Happy Hour. We are already saving our pennies for next year!

I arrived early in Portland and the hotel staff let me into my room early - very nice. Old hotel charm with modern upgrades - and the food was excellent. Near both downtown and the Pearl so I could walk everywhere and right on the TRIMET line.

A gem in Portland

pros: fun vibe, clean rooms, convenient location, professional staffLove this hotel. My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night, including four days preceding the wedding, and arranged a discount rate for our group of out of towners, from whom I heard only complimentary reviews. The only disparaging thing I could say is that the exercise room is puny and depressing--then again the hotel decor harkens back to old hollywood and doesn't really inspire a workout. I also thought the marlene deitrich room was fun, but not worth the extra cost. We stayed in another executive level suite prior to the wedding, which we thoroughly loved and were kinda sorry we bothered to move for the post-nuptials. Staff members, in particular the valets, were incredibly pleasant and helpful. We also organized a large post-wedding breakfast for our wedding party at Gracie's, and they nailed it with great American standards and attentive service. As for the swanky Driftwood Lounge, I love that it's retained its original funkiness since the makeover. For cleanliness, Portland quirk, old glamour style and charm, and convenience of location, this is a great choice.

My Favorite Hotel in Portland!

it doesn't get any better than this especially for their great prices. The lounge downstairs has the perfect setting,,,it's dimmed lighting, very mellow and almost a 70's feel. The rooms are very clean and cozy and the service is fantastic! You can even bring your dogs here,,,you won't find many places that you can bring your doggies along in Portland. Hotel Deluxe is fabulous and I look forward to spening many more nights there in the future. You should check it out.

We arrived at about 8pm on a Monday, and asked about dinner options on check-in. A, who checked us in, gave us 5 restaurants covering 4 different cuisines within 6 blocks of the hotel, while noting that on Mondays, many things in Portland are closed. The staff were remarkable attentive and friendly. The room was meticulously appointed, and the bed very comfortable. The 1930s-1950s movie theme of the hotel is charming. We easily walked from the hotel to all of SW and NW Portland; very convenient location at SW 15th and SW Morrison. We got multiple restaurant recommendations from the staff, each one very lovely. The Pillow Menu, iPod Menu, and the Spiritual Menu were each very thorough. Pillows from very soft to very firm are available upon request - we found the ones on the bed quite satisfactory. The iPod menu lets you request an iPod pre-programmed with a genre be sent to your room to plug into the iPod-ready clock radio in the room - the iPod functionality of my partner's iPhone worked in the device. I noticed the abscence of a Bible or Book of Mormon (i've stayed in a lot of Marriotts) immediately, then found the spiritual menu. On request, they will bring you a religious text of choice, whether Vedic, Zen, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or other. The valet parking was well worth it. Anytime we needed the car, they pulled it around for us within minutes. They offer you chilled water on arrival, and when you leave the hotel, which is nice touch. Someone is there to open your car door for you ninety percent of the time, whether coming or going. We both recommend Hotel Deluxe to anyone; it's well worth the money.

I'll get the 1 negative out of the way first, the room was a little on the small side. having said that it was well-appointed and very comfortable. The food is very good and the staff is more than willing to recommend dining options other than the hotel's. The service is some of the best I've ever encountered. The staff was always available, knowledgeable about the area, competent and very friendly. Room service, the restaurant and the lounge were excellent. The hotel has a convenient downtown location and is easily accessible from the Portland expressways. We truly enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again, if we're ever in the fine city of Portland again.
