Nice, but Expensive

I agree with Tex09's review that this is a nice hotel, but the price is a little out of whack. I stayed here recently on business because I love the location. The view from the top floor deck, of the Bay Bridge, is amazing at night. This hotel is

Stayed here with two daughters in tow July 2006. Paid less than half of what it would cost to stay now. Still the same building and amenities. What on earth could justify the increase? Well perhaps people foolish enough to believe the hype. I'm

Nice Hotel but won't be back

The hotel photos made the room look wonderful. I wanted to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday in a big way and chose this hotel based on the photos and the claim of a luxury hotel. When we drove up, I was disappointed by the outside appearance of the hotel. Very plain and small. The interior was just ok, noting special as I had hoped. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating though. The room itself was the most disappointing because at at total of $450+ dollars for a 1 night stay ($45.00 for valet parking and $40.00 for 6 birthday balloons included in the cost), I could have flown to Vegas. The room was small and nothing of the Wow I was hoping to give my husband for this special day. The upside was that large soaking tub (my husband is over 6 feet tall) and the fluffy bed and bedding. The view was nice at night time though. I guess you have to visit a place to see it for yourself. Needless to say, we won't be back.

We love the Hotel Vitale! Would not

We love the Hotel Vitale! Would not want to stay anywhere else. We have stayed twice and cannot wait for the third time. The location is great, the decor and atmosphere sophisticated and the staff knows how to treat their guests. I suggest trying the spa, the roof top baths are unique and very relaxing. The resturant and room service both are very good or there are fabulous choices for dining within walking distance. Our last stay was due to weather and airline cancellations, the Hotel Vitale turned what should have been an inconvienence into a romantic getaway and a great memory.

My wife came into the City over the Thanksgiving weeked for a "date night." We chose Hotel Vitale after reading about it on Citysearch and were not disappointed. The service was great and we were upgraded to a room with 180 degree views of the Bay! What a surprise. The room was spacious, spotless and of couse the view from the Ferry Building to the Bay Bridge. Check out the roof while you are staying there as well. We'd be back for sure.

High End in San Francisco. Hotel Vitale is located directly across the street from the Ferry building. It has a very nice restaurant with a fun bar located on the floor level. There are tons of great places to explore only walking distance away. San Francisco’s famous Pier 39, Ferry Building, Fisherman’s Warf, and much much much more. If you are looking for something special, book the circular suite... The view is amazing!

Boutique goodness in San Francisco. The Hotel Vitale is one of my favorite places to stay when I need to crash in the City for the night. As hip and fresh as you’d expect from a San Francisco hotel and located just off the Embarcadero, the hotel offers everything: killer views, great location, fabulous restaurant and room service (Americano is actually one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco, particularly for breakfast or brunch) and beautifully appointed rooms. I was excited by the Fresh brand toiletries in the room because I do actually care about such things, but even cooler was the chaise lounge chair just under the large window, directly overlooking San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge. The room was decorated in muted blues, and I was able to connect my laptop and stretch the cord over to the chair to take in the views while I finished up some work. Not a bad setup! The beds are quite comfortable, and the morning delivery of room service is practically an event. They set up the in-room desk like a full-service restaurant, and breakfast never looked more appealing. I didn’t take advantage of many of the hotel services (gym, spa) but I did appreciate the valets leaving my car up front while I did some shopping around the hotel and came back to drop off packages in the trunk every hour or so. Valet parking isn’t any more expensive than any other hotel in the city, and it’s easy to get in and out of their valet area. I can’t recommend the Hotel Vitale enough. They really did this hotel right.

Enjoyed my stay

pros: nutjobs on mission-funnyHotel Vitale is a great place to say. Maybe they have one employee who is rude? Which hotel doesn't? I read what the author said, "emotional violence", what a ninny, grow up, and have a whiskey.

As for the hotel: the beds are nice and clean, and the staff is a bit distant, but this is on Mission so they have lots of nutjobs out and about so take the time to get to know them, like you should do at any hotel, or any new environment; the more intrest you take in other, the more they will in you. Simple, really.

Don't support this prejudiced hotel

pros: Lame apology after the damage was doneI am so glad I found out about the incident whereupon the prejudiced Hotel Manager ignorantly demanded that N'gugi wa Thiong'o leave the premises of this Hotel. This blatant display of racism is despicable and I'm so grateful didn't book my vacation at this hotel! It's very sad that websites continue to recommend it thusly despite this appalling information.
