We had a group of 18 Habitat For Humanity Volunteers that were headed to Biloxi, MS for Habitat Home Re-Building for the week of Oct 15th-20th... We stayed over the weekend of Oct 13 thru 15 and extremely pleased to be so close to the French Quarter and all the events... Rooms were very good, clean & comfortable with a double door opening onto a balcony that overlooked the Garden Patio area... We are looking forward to going back to the Hotel Provincial as soon as we can arrange it in our plans for our next Habitat Building Trip...

The hotel was fine. It was quaint, clean, and had a good location. Parking was ridiculously priced at $18/night, when some other hotels had free parking or very cheap parking included. The next time that I go to New Orleans I will stay in a Marriott or other similar hotel. They were in the business district, but to be honest, it was only about a block further. The location of the Provincial was good though, close to Bourbon street and the river walk, although the Marriott, etc. were just as close. For a romantic vacation, the Provincial may be better if you are looking for something more secluded, but less in the way of amenties. The parking fee still sits a little poorly with me.

Booked through this website, this hotel is a good value for what is the best, most tranquil, location in the quarter. Hotel has parking which is a big plus. Ask for room in front as they seemed to have some out of the way rooms. Verify before arriving that your trip is prepaid through this site as Provincial insisted that we pay them direct which was a big hassle since we had already prepaid through this site.

I've stayed at the Hotel Provincial

I've stayed at the Hotel Provincial many times Pre-Katrina. Was concerned about a post Katrina visit to any Hotle in New Orleans and reviews are all over the map. Keeping an open mind and getting a good rate I booked two rooms ($* nt.) for a vacation road trip for a family member and friends from Ireland. I was not disappointed. Our rooms were in building 5 - 521 and 523. I'd never stayed in building 5 before as it is above the bar area - which is undergoing renovations. We heard not even hammering during our stay. The pool is not a huge one but it is nice for the courtyard and doing a few laps, (building 2) has a separate courtyard which a lot of other guests seemed to be enjoying. The smaller pool on the other side of the driveway tucked back in another courtyard (building 3/4) is much smaller in size. Our rooms opened up onto the gallery that overlooked Decatur. It was great to return to the hotel in the afternoon with Margaritas 'to go' and sit up on the gallery listening to the band playing at the restaurant across in the French Market. Compared to Pre-Katrina visits I found that the crowds are not there as they were before. Lots of shops have closed or cut hours. The residents are still coping. The staff at the Hotel were great at helping my international friends find what they were looking to see and do while in the Big Easy. If you want Mini-bars, room service and mints on the pillows this is not the hotel for you. If you want charm, a good location and a decent place to lay your head at night, well you could do worse.

I travel to New Orleans several times a year just to relax, hang, maybe take in a Saints game. I always stay at this Hotel. The rooms are fantastic and very reasonable compared to other hotels with rooms of this quality. It has on site parking so that you alway have access to you vehicle for travel to other parts of the city. Fee is $*per night but is waived in most travel packages. It is located on Rue Chartres, a very quiet section of the Quarter. One Block from, Cafe Dumont, French Martket and all things on DeCatur. Several nice local pubs that are great for conversation or watching the game on the corners of Dumaine, St Ann and halfway down St Phillip on the right. I hope you enjoy your stay, I always do

This charming French Quarter hotel is located on a quiet residential street mere steps away from all New Orleans has to offer. The well apppointed room was comfortable and immaculately clean. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and polite and catered to our every whim. This property is an outstand value and is highly recommended

This hotel stay was one problem after

This hotel stay was one problem after another, starting with very unrealistic expectations. The photos listed on this website must be of the two best, most expensive rooms in the hotel, which don't even seem to be an option to book through the travel agency. Our room was a plain, poorly decorated room that seemed more of Best Western standards than a cute French Quarter historic hotel. We requested a room with a single Queen bed and were given two double beds instead. When we asked to switch, the staff was friendly about it but then moved us to a room with only one bed...still a double...and a much much smaller room. When I went to take a relaxing shower that evening before a night out I found that the drain in the shower was completely clogged, only after my disgust when brown water came out of the faucet! The pressure of the showerheads is painful, and I like good water pressure. The rooms are clean, yes, but that is about it. NO room service or bars/restaurants as advertised here and the pools are nowhere near as big or nice as they look in the photos. It's not even worth the free night's stay!

This hotel really does reflect the character and archetecture of the French Quarter. The furnishings and decoration of the room were in the style of the area. The narrow streets and courtyard were cozy and pretty. The pool was private and inviting. The staff were polite and attentive and gave us useful information about the city. The linens were changed daily and the rooms cleaned and left spotless every day. The ambience of the hotel was wonderfully appropriate and a refreshing change from the plastic and chrome of the modern hotel.

All Review Photos I detest hotel

All Review Photos I detest hotel chains. I will stay at the glass and steel monsters only when there are no other options. Why travel if your room looks just like the room in any other city? The Provincial is precisely the kind of place I try to find.My room allowed me to walk directly out to the wonderful pool area and take a dip upon rising or just before going to bed. Te room was clean, the air conditioning up to the task of staving off the heat in New Orleans in summer time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You could not ASK for a better location either. It's a bit out of the way as far as the party-goers are concerned...unless you are with a group doing their own partying you aren't going to have to deal with that kind of noise in your room. Decauter, however, is just a two-block walk away...so you can join the party whenever you desire. Jackson square is just a couple of blocks in another direction.

All Review Photos The rooms were small.

All Review Photos The rooms were small...not New York small, or even San Francisco small...they were small. But, from what I understand, that's how all the rooms are in New Orleans unless you really pay top dollar for accommodations. Everything was quite nice, centrally located, and an easy walk to anything in the French Quarter. The staff were totally nice, and our stay was quite pleasant. My review of the hotel would be longer, but we stayed just over 12 hours and I didn't have a very long experience. I will say this much: next time I happen through New Orleans, I would definitely stay at the Hotel Provincial again.
