Mardi Gras was great, in part to the orginization of the hotel and its staff. However, the hotel made no effort to meet the comittment by travel agency in regards to room appointment.

The history and charm of the Hotel

The history and charm of the Hotel Monteleone is undeniable. The lobby is gorgeous, historical, and exactly what one would expect. I would stay there again, but I would probably explore other options as well. All but one of the gentlemen serving as valet parking attendants were rude, and one adjusted our radio station (including turning it up loudly). A parking garage elevator and an elevator in the hotel were down while were there, causing long delays with getting to the lobby and getting our car. We were scheduled to have a "deluxe" room, which is the "largest" of the guest rooms, most offering views of the the Mississippi River or French Quarter (according to their webpage). If that was the largest of the guest rooms, I would hate to see the two smaller rooms. It was miniscule. The view was of what appeared to be the HVAC system. On the positive side, it was very clean. The linens were nice. The soaps were nice. The water pressure was good. No flat panel tv in this day and age? In an era when La Quinta and Hyatt have flat panel tvs on the wall, that is a little surprising for the Monteleone to not have that amenity. We had breakfast in Le Cafe, but $20 was a little steep for the buffet. The other menu choices were nearly as expensive. The buffet did have a nice selection of fresh fruit. The staff was mostly very professional. Personally, my suggestion would be to visit the lobby, the gift shop, the Carousel bar, but stay elsewhere. It was not a disaster, but for that many stars and that sort of price, I expect a little more.

My wife and I celebrated our 41st anniversary in style. This hotel is a jewel in the French Quarter. Everything went perfect. The pool on the roof is a winner!

Located within walking distance of multiple attractions. Nice hotel, it was very hot but A/C worked perfectly, kept the room very cold. Hotel has plenty of character and charm. Only downside is parking, get there early because parking is limited and fills up quickly. I travel often and highly recommend this hotel.

I truly felt as I was imposing on ALL the staff when I stayed here. Service was terrible EVERYWHERE. Room service did not make up my room till 5 p.m. even though I was out of my room by 7 a.m.. Rooftop pool was pretty, but way to small and overcrowded and then it got messy and seemed like a pool somewhere on a spring break. Only one waitress and bartender no where to be found. No seats, no room to sit. Horrible. Service was surly at front desk, from housekeeping, at Carousel bar, everywhere.
If you want to be treated poorly, stay in a room that is just OK, and feel the entire time that you are lucky if the staff even acknowledges you, then the Hotel Monteleone is the place for you.
Otherwise, book at a place where you will be treated as a gues.

I choose this place due to other reviews. Well my room wasn't ready til 5 pm, wasted 2 1/2 hrs waiting instead of being able to relax at pool, to get the type of room I requested was a fight. For 2 days no housekeeping and then had to call on 2 other days and complain and front desk treated like I was asking alot. These folks have alot of attitude and excuses. The bed covers had stains on them and the sheets and towels are far from soft, beds are too soft and so are oillows, took 3 just to get comfy. When arrived no one helped me with my bags thru thier extremely heavy doors and the steps. My phone was broken and I ointed it out everyday and never fixed. Also the noise was hoorible, from the actual employees. I was in a room near the employee elevators and I am going home more exhausted then when I arrived. The concierge, e was down right rude and spoke down to you but took full credit in how wonderful she thought she was. I have never written a review before but I feel I got skunked, stay somewhere else , there is a goliday inn 1/2 away and on charters st a beautiful w hotel, a little more but 100 times nicer and the staff when I stopped to look at it was friendlier to me then at me own hotel that I was staying and paying $200 a night. Oiece of crap place. I have stayed at holiday inn near airports that were better. For all their fancy icing the cake itself is stale and overpriced.

We stayed here for 4 nights and got nothing but great service from everyone! We loved how nice and fiendly everyone one to us the moment we got there. The hotel is a great location and close to everything, and you are able to book tours inside the hotel. Staying here and traveling to the French Quater was the best vacation experience I've had yet. Stay here you won't regret it!!

All Review Photos I recently had a chance to get back to N'Awlins for a dental convention. I usually stay at The W or a guesthouse on Ursuline but neither was available so I searched for another place to stay and stumbled across the Monteleone. I'll admit that I didn't much care for the decor. I'm not a big fan of striped wallpaper, the fussy curtains, the armoir with the TV inside...I like contemporary furnishings. But in spite of that I seriously enjoyed or stay because every single hotel employee was so damn nice!Check-In was a breeze and we felt genuinely welcomed by the guy checking us in. The ladies who served us the Fabulous breakfast in the restaurant downstairs were wonderful, the doorman seemed so happy to be there to open the door for us, and everybody we encountered was wonderful! The location was great. Close to Bourbon St. but far enough away for comfort. We loved the rooftop pool / spa. We didn't use either but wandered up there one afternoon to nose around and found some awesome views. I have every intention of returning for cocktails at the poolside bar one evening. Wow!The rooms were small. No doubt....but then what on earth are you doing spending time in your room when you are in N'Awlins, sweetie? Get off your butt and get out there in the street! You can watch a movie at home! Do you realize that there is a fabulous city out there to explore?I really enjoyed the Monteleone and I'll stay there again.

We loved the room...not large but very nicely appointed, good beds, robes are always a nice extra, great shower, deep tub...all in all a nice room. Only thing missing is a balcony but there is a beautiful pool in a cozy area on the roof which has sun and shade. Had the breakfast buffet which was very good..crawfish omelet, yummy grits and old fashioned biscuits.
The best part is the location.. You can walk to everything, close to the action but not In it 24/7.The Carousel Bar is in the hotel, open late, actually revolves...fun place to start or end the evening. Go see Big Al Carson at the Funky Pirate!! What a voice!!
