Not a bad hotel but absolutely not

Not a bad hotel but absolutely not worth the price per night. The elevators are tiny (terrible for clostrophobia), the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms in the rooms are the size of airplane bathrooms but with a shower (also terrible for clostrophobia). The location is great for a Seattle visit, the hotel is vibrantly colored, the business center was cool and the bed was comfortable. However, there are other 3 and 4 star hotels in the vicinity are a better value and offer rooms that you can actually move in. Parking at the hotel is a whopping $30/night!!! But downtown Seattle has a lot of parking, I found a pay-to-park lot across the street from the hotel $10 for 24hrs and you can come and go during those 24hrs.

The hotel is an older remodeled hotel.

The hotel is an older remodeled hotel. The interior is very nice and the design and decor are modern and contemporary. the staff doesn?t even make an attempt to make your stay any better. When I checked in, the front desk staff was dry and not very friendly. I booked a Queen Room. The room is barely big enough for the bed. There's hardly any room to walk around. Since there's no sitting space, you're forced to spend the day sitting in your bed. The bathroom and shower are extremely small and separate from each other. There was a window unit that wasn't regulated by temperature. When it was on, it got really hot and stuffy; and if you turned it off, it got really cold because the windows are poorly sealed. So there's no happy median for the temperature.
I would not suggest anyone to stay here!!!

It's a clean, comfortable hotel with interesting surroundings, and amenities that you actually might want when traveling, like a 24 hour place to eat a block away and check service for your luggage after checkout. The artwork it's famous for is funky and fun, if not life-changing, and the rooms are very functional, if a little small.
The beds are comfortable, the linens are decent and the service was great (inlcuding bellhops that actually earn their tips). Close to downtown and pike place don't hurt, either.
For $*** for a king room it was well worth it.

Good times, nice place

pros: Location, staff, beds, artworkWell after reading reviews of this hotel, good and bad, I decided it sounded like it was worth a try, and it was. The beds were great, plush and comfortable. So yeah the rooms were a bit small, but unless you weigh 400 lbs I highly doubt it's true that people "could barely move" since I happen to be a bigger guy myself and was fine. Parking is expensive everywhere in Seattle and I found the valet here to be much more convenient for a slight price increase. Other than that, hotel staff was friendly and helpful, ambiance was fun, sushi was great at the restaurant, and almost everything in Seattle was in walking distance. Still can't believe how exagerated the some of these bad reviews are....

I LOVED my experience here! The staff

I LOVED my experience here! The staff was very accomodating & helpful with my quirky needs that arose. The style of the hotel was everything I've ever wanted from an HGTV show & haven't been able to get myself. I loved the art work on my door fronts (8th floor) & through out the hotel. It was a museum experience on its own. I really feel like staying at this hotel completed my Seattle experience & would recommend or stay here again...over and over!! The first 2 nights of my stay I was in a double bed room as I had a guest with me. The room had good artwork, a great view & lots of perks, the only downfall was the size of the bathroom. There's only so much you can do with an old building & this hotel has by far done wonders, but sheesh I was glad to move to my queen room on the 3rd night. There's nothing like sitting on the toilet to brush your teeth. And I didn't see any way to wash my face in the small space- half out the door/half on the toilet under the shelf above the sink. Ahh, the queen though. If I could morph my home in to everything that room holds I would...I should!Great location to get to the mall, movies, Seattle space needle, Aquarium, Seattle Art Museum, local shops and my favorite Pike Place Market!! There is a hotel one block away for cheap airport shuttle. ($11) The ONE thing (besides the dbl room bathroom) is that I felt deceived by the hotel parking that was mentioned on the site. Anything you read that says $10 per night IGNORE! It's all a farse!! $30 night-parkonthestreet!

The Hotle Max is a great place to stay.

The Hotle Max is a great place to stay. The location was perfect the price was great. All of the staff were really great. The rooms were small, but lets face it who takes a vacation to stay in the hotel, so who really cares as long as it is clean and it was very clean. There is a great little market around the corner that has the "best" breakfast sandwiches and coffee to go. I would reccomend this Hotle to anyone I know who is planning a trip to Seattle.

Great hotel experience all around.

Great hotel experience all around. Desk staff could have been better informed about neighborhood restaurants, events, etc. Twenty/Thirty somethings will be most comfortable at this minimalist facility, but us mid--60s folks also had a great time. Hotel Max is located near some great places to eat (e.g. Il Fornaio, Lola's, Le Pichet, Virginia Inn), the monorail terminal, and many great stores. Moderately priced.

Bourg-y, Stylish, Downtown

pros: Great Local and Artistic TouchesThis downtown hotel definitely has an edge, especially in decor. Similar to boutique upscale modernist hotels in every major city, Hotel Max is unique in the friendly staff department. I've found from multiple stays that they seem to really care about the customer and our needs. Specifically, I've spent significant time in their sparse business center, and have never felt like I was taking advantage.

Most of the staff is young, good-looking and knowledgeable about local points of interest. The rooms are nothing special, but offer great vantage points and the location offers the opportunity to walk everywhere of interest downtown.

Here's what Hotel Max gets right: the bed, the friendliness of the staffHere's what they get wrong: no room service after 11pm (though they advertise 24 hr.), cleanliness (hairs in the bath, the second day housekeeping pulled the comforter up but not the sheet when she made the bed(!)), our room stank like french fries (though we didn't eat anything in there); the room itself was the size of a postage stamp and there were no blackout blinds (I was awake at 6am). I imagine this hotel would be considered cool by wealthy preteens and edgy by their grandparents, but everyone in between would be better served by staying somewhere else.

The Hotel Max exceded my expectations.

The Hotel Max exceded my expectations. Everything was really great. The room was spacious with a nice view. The location was excellent, just a few blocks from Pike Place Market for shopping and food. The hotel staff, from the front desk to the valets, were all helpful and friendly. We parked with the hotel ($ per day-average price for any downtown hotel)and our car was always ready within a few minutes after we called for it, although the valet card stated to allow 20 minutes. In/Out privledges made it even more convenient than a lot nearby would have been. The maid service was great, the room always looked clean when we'd come back from an outting. We did have a slight issue at checkout...we had an obscenely early flight, and upon leaving our room, could get no answer at the front desk(for our car to be brought around). The valet was right there when we came down though, and located the MIA front desk staff(who wasn't the friendliest guy)for us so we could check out. Our car was there within minutes, yet another friendly valet. We did have to leave the room keys with the valet, as the front desk person had immediately disappeared after our transaction, and he'd forgot to collect them. But hey, this WAS at 3 am, so it was easily overlooked.Overall, the stay/experience was fabulous and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone, anytime! Thanks to the staff for making it a great business -with pleasure -trip!
