Staff went out of their way to please us.The "pretty food" from the restaurant was pricey.“Great hotel for business and the occasional leisure traveler. Good location and the best service of any hotel in Houston. Needs larger and/or plasma TVs for the price. Upgrade to the west in type "heavenly bed" should be a priority.”

What an unexpectedly gorgeous hotel in a super convenient location in downtown Houston. I booked it because it was inexpensive compared to other hotels downtown. Wow, did I score! If you love restored old buildings, this is the place. Classic elegance yet hip and trendy.

The service was top notch, especially the front desk/reservations. They accommodated our requests and quickly resolved any minor details that we had. The room with the peek a boo jaccuzzi was impeccable! The room's decor is elegant. Everybody made us feel very welcome. The only thing(s) that went wrong is the housekeeping left an empty water bottle in our room after they finished and we got charged for drinks from the refrigerator, just because we were looking through it. But these items were quickly resolved, no questions asked. I'd definitely go back again!

The Very Best Hotel I've Stayed In

pros: Good price, bathroom, decorMy fiancee and I went there for a romantic weekend (we live in Houston). We had a room with a king bed. I loved the colors and the style it was decorated in. Very 1920's art deco-ish style. It was decorated in rich reds, golds and greens. It also had a very nice red easy chair. The mini bar is fully stocked with wonderful snacks and drinks. But the bathroom is by far the best! The claw foot, jacuzzi tub is nice and roomy, and equipped with a spray attachment. The best part is that it sits right next to the shutters that look into the main room. So you can smoke a cigar and watch TV while you relax in the tub! Right behind the tub is a clear glass shower...use your imagination in this bathroom, lovebirds!! The bathroom is stocked with Molton Brown bath products that smell delicious, and, of course, the usual items you find in a hotel bathroom. They also have a turn-down service with the chocolates and rose petals on the comforter. And we didn't get the romantic package...this, I think, is standard! The bar at the Bank restaurant is wonderful, but we didn't try the restaurant itself. My only complaints are that you do have to valet park, and the front desk people are a bit slow and not as friendly or classy as they should be in a hotel like this. Despite that, I can't WAIT to stay there again. I recommend it HIGHLY for couples looking for a romantic getaway :)

The folks at this hotel are very nice but it certainly isn't a 5 star experience. First, the hotel is very very dark everywhere... from the rooms to the lobby.
Attention to detail in decor was very good. Too bad you can hardly see it.
The food and wine is very good but very expensive. An appetizer and glass of wine after my meeting ran $30. The hotel has a car available to take you around the city center but my driver got lost one of the two days I spent there. On the plus side their french fries are almost worth the $250 per night it cost to stay there.
