What they don't mention is that the pool is a couple of doors down at the YMCA and you have to pay to use it. This hotel is very close to the Embarcadero BART station so is very convenient without being around all the hotel traffic around Union Square. The room is somewhat small-ish but what you would expect in places like Manhattan and San Francisco. The great Ferry Building is a very short walk away, with great views of the downtown and the Bay itself. Noted fine restaurants are also in the immediate neighborhood. I am a VIP online travel website member and got a very good last-minute discount by booking through this website. The city was full so we had to stay. The location of the hotel is great. Breakfast was nice and service was good. The hotel was very clean, but the rooms are very small and noisy. Many of the rooms are located above an exhaust fan from the hotel's kitchen on the first floor. Our room was so loud we couldn't sleep; it sounded like we were in a jacuzzi. The front desk was unable to switch off the fan but promised it would be off at 10:00 pm. It wasn't- it ran all day and night. Room service reports they get lots of complaints about the noise.
