dear god don't do it!

Previous trips to Providence I stayed at the Westin, Courtyard Marriott and Marriott and thought they we’re all ok, not fabulous but nothing to complain about. I chose this hotel because my friends wanted a place we could cook a few meals with a great location. To balance this review I will say the location was perfect and the unit was fairly clean. You can walk to any of the federal hill restaurants, shops, bars. So 5 star location, unfortunately that’s where it ends. The hotel itself was the absolute worst hotel (motel would be a better description) I have ever stepped foot in. The odor when you walked in was horrific and was everywhere, the lobby, stairwells and units. I’ll describe the unit as low income inner city projects or inner city dorm room. The furniture was from the 70’s and very worn. The appliances were ok but the beds, bedding, pillows, bathroom, living room, tvs’s, non working fireplace were just YUCKY. It was 1970 Miami want to be art deco or European but worse. Overall I will never in my lifetime step foot in this building and was truly embarrassed just being there. Not that I haven't said enough, very noisy.

Very disappointed

I was VERY disappointed in our recent stay. 1st: BEWARE of their 14-day cancellation policy! 2nd: the fireplace did not work, the room was not stocked properly each day, and the NOISE was HORRIBLE. Do not go there for a "quiet night's sleep!" I tried to leave a day early due to the noise, the they refused to credit me for the day, despite two days of complaints. NOT A GOOD VALUE!

I booked for a bday weekend in the city. I loved every bit of it! The room was spotless, the staff was amazing and it was a suite for the price of a regular hotel room. I will definatly be back!

Loved it!

I loved it! I booked for a birthday weekend in Providence for my boyfriend. We stayed in a one bedroom. The staff was great, explaining everything and giving us directions to local areas. The room was impressive, all white, modern, and spotless. There was biscotti, popcorn and other items waiting in the room. TV, DVD and cd player, with DVDs to borrow in the lobby. They offer overnight parking, so no worries finding a spot to park! I loved it all! Plus its a suite for the price of a regular hotel room.

Dont Stay in the Villa Toscana

Federal Hill was a great destination and we saw pictures of the Villa at the Hotel Dolce Villa in DePasquale Plaza. We expected a cozy romantic spot for a getaway but The pictures on the website do not tell the story about the "Authentic Villa" Dirty and scary will tell you what to expect. $400 per night???? no toilet paper? Mis-matched curtains, thrift shop furniture, filthy refrigerator.. I could go on and on. This rental could be really cool but it is so lame that I wanted to shower after leaving.

Dinner at Mediteranneo (across the plaza)was excellent, waking up in the "Villa" was worse than disappointing. Never looked at the hotel rooms

A nice get away during the holidays

At first, the entrance was clean, but disarmingly small, but we walked to the right, to the first floor to our room , 3-4 doors down on the left. The room was ALL WHITE, perfectly clean and spacious an unexpected kitchen and seating area were upon entry, and then a hall to the bedroom and bath. The bath, although small was clean and fine for one at a time, when do you want to share space in a bath? The bedroom all white, and clean, and comfortable beds, ( I wanted a splash of RED, or just one color-- a throw across the bed) but it was neat, clean and tidy ( I'm a clean freak). NO problems in and out with the valet parking, and pleasant recommendations by the front desk staff. All in all a very enjoyable stay, there was some noise in alley, trash trucks, but what city doesn't have that? We visited all the restaurants in the area, and enjoyed our stay, very relaxing. THX I am re-booking in Jan. 08 right now.-- M

A great place

If you like quiet at night and down to earth people, this is the place for you! The rooms are spacious, modern European artsy! My room had a kitchen, fireplace, and a lovely view of the old city. It was perfect. I was alone just seeing the sites, but I could see how this could be a perfect weekend romantic get away! I was there in March, during the snow storm that hit NYC 07, it was cold, snowing, and I did not get a chance to visit the beach that is within walking distance. The trolley was a great way to get around, and most people were really friendly, however, some need to learn their city a little better before giving advice on the best way to get to places. You can't buy a trolley pass on a Sunday, so don't try! The RI School of Design was a great treat as well as the Kennedy Center ... had I known how to ice skate... lots of people seem to be having a great time! The hotel is next door to several great restaurants and just a block off restaurant row. Rather business or pleasure, this is a real find, and very reasonable!

We would not stay again

My husband and I were in Providence for our daughter's graduation and spent six nights at the Dolce Villa, May 2007.

Pro's: Valet parking, good location

Con's: Uncomfortable beds; only ceiling fluorescent lights (a lamp by the bed would be nice to read by); all cool white everything (walls, floors, furniture) so with the ceiling fluorescent lighting, unpleasant and harsh; six nights of a plugged bathroom sink which was never repaired despite notifying the manager the first morning after our arrival and on subsequent days; small windows on an alley with dumpsters (only two rooms face the Plaza); no elevator so carry your own luggage up three flights of stairs; is there a towel shortage? we only received one washcloth; very over-priced.

Stay Somewhere Else!

Bad Service. Did not like my keys hanging on the wall behind the unoccupied front desk. Had to wait for my car while Brad the manager of the hotel was next door talking and eating holding his finger up telling me to wait a minute as I look inside the cafe through the front window!

Room keys that are not electronic and modern CAN YOU SAY SCARY! I layed in bed hoping that someone that might have made a copy of the key would sneak back in or come in while I was away. The key was like a gas station bathroom key with a big plate!

No carpeting to help with noise and make it more cozy and comfortable. Everything is white making it more like a mental institution. No color on the walls!?!

Small Bathrooms.

Rats running around outside that scared my daughter!

A really bad trash smell and unless you stay in the front balcony, you will not get a view! Our view was of a dark dirty alley way full of trash and rodents! I am not kidding!!

You can hear every noise in the hallway and every door opening and closing! Did I mention there is NO ELEVATOR and my room was on the third floor!!
