You could walk in any direction and within a few blocks shop, eat and explore. Hotel was always up to par and the breakfast bar would give any restaurant a run for its money. Close to information and free transportation if needed. Would stay again.

Would not use again for business travel.

Stayed at the hotel for business. The room was very small, no place in the room to work. The shower curtain has black mold on it, even after 2 calls to front desk to replace or clean it. First night I had 1 (one!) towel in my room. No washclothes, nothing to put on the floor when getting out of the shower. I was charged for long distance calls I never placed (I have a cell phone with free long distance). The internet was SLOWWWWW!!!! I ran a speedtest on it and averaged 32 Kbps (slower than dialup). I tried both the Wireless and wired ethernet access, both were too slow to work on. Luckily I can tether my cell phone as a modem (and I averaged 975 Kbps with a EVDO connection). Do NOT go to this hotel for business, the rooms are not business user friendly (no place to work and slow internet).

Now a Holiday Inn Express, the

Now a Holiday Inn Express, the remodeled Cass is a self-described "boutique hotel". That's a euphemism for very cramped. They created a larger number of smaller rooms when they remodeled. There's no place to open up your luggage, and the closet has a small chest of drawers in it, which took up the space which would have been useful for hanging dresses, raincoats, and longer clothing items. We were there in May, so I had to wonder where patrons stored their bulky coats in winter. There's not even enough floor space to leave them on. There's no space for decent seating, so don't plan to lounge around in the room.

The furnishings are adequate but cheap: paint was already chipping off the one year old chairs, which have very low backs so that they fit under the half-table; the two small photos on the wall were of 1950s women's fashions; the night table was probably built by the remodeler; etc. The beds were saggy, despite the firm base (not box springs?).

The only good thing about the (free) hot breakfast items was the biscuits, but there was a good assortment of cereals, yogurt, and sticky buns.

The entire staff was very conscientious and helpful.

We stayed there because they offered Government rates beyond the date of the conference. We should have paid to stay in a more comfortable room with adequate space.

I had a blast in Chicago this past weekend. The hotel was great, it had really comfortable beds and wonderful location. I thought the service was great and they were very helpful. Although they didn't have room service, they had a good restaurant that delivered. I also was able to get my clothes dry cleaned which was convenient. I would recommend this place to anyone that likes the big city and a nice room with great towels and showers.

Must be a better option in town

Stayed in Chicago for a conference.
Basic and clean hotel, recently but cheaply renovated, cramped rooms. The bathroom ceiling leaked in our room, and fixtures are poorly installed.
Night and evening staff attitude is in need of some serious adjustment. I witnessed some unacceptable behavior towards fellow foreign conference attendees in need of assistance, as well as a clumsy and reluctant attitude towards our own basic needs such as heating.
I am sure in a great city like Chicago, one could find a more pleasant place to stay.

Our room also came with a cooked to order breakfast that was delicious!! Would definately stay here again and have told all of our friends about our great experience!!

I travel a lot for business and was happy to find that they have valet service, dry cleaning and small but very clean rooms. The area is great and the towels and showers were very good. The rates were a bit high, but the quality was well worth it.

The newly renovated Hotel Cass-Holiday Inn Express is a luxurious chic boutique type hotel with great lobby and rooms. The staff was wonderful and the service was great.

They have a helpful front desk. The upkeep in the rooms is not as good as expected and the beds are not comfortable.

Great location--close to the Magnificent Mile and lakefront path. The rooms are dingy, but have cable television and air conditioning. I asked the front desk for a hairdryer, and I got it promptly. I am a female and felt safe staying here alone. I highly recommend the Cass if you don't plan to spend much time in your room.
