Best Hostel ever

I have stayed in 12 HI hostels in the US and this was the best ever. The location is one block from the beach & pier, bike rentals, one block from the Promonade with lots of shopping, resturants, & street entertainers. Parking across the street. Big screen TV and another big screen for nightly DVDs. Great laundry, library, lounge, kitchen, & outdoor patio with fountain. The rooms & bathrooms are clean and secure. I met friendly people there. Staff was very helpful. There is an elevator, lots of pay phones & internet access as well as video games. There is no airconditioning which could be a problem in the hot summers. It is a great buy in a great location. Shuttle to airport is $16 or take a bus.

All Review Photos We had a private

All Review Photos We had a private double with a shared, dorm style bathroom. There is no air-conditioning, but in California it actually gets cold at night, even if the day was warm, so you don't even need it. The hostel was in a great location, about a block from Santa Monica Pier, but the people at the front desk were the most miserable hotel/hostel clerks I've EVER seen.
