The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was filling (not just bread). Friendly staff. Excellent location. We felt perfectly safe.

Hottub was broken, so we were disappointed with that. The pool was a little small, but the kids still had fun.

AVOID THE ONE IN ARLINGTON UNLESS...

...they assure you they've fixed the fire alarm. I've been forced to stay here on business a number of times, because my company makes me put up here. Three times now, the fire alarm has gone off at some ungodly hour and for no reason. This morning it started blaring like a nuclear reactor at six thirty. The place looked like some apocalyptic scene from a movie: old men wandering the halls in their bathrobes, dazed old women in barefeet, police men swarming, clusters of scared looking people huddled outside. As usual, the hotel management kept us standing around for half an hour and then never bothered to apologize or explain that nothing was wrong. The alarm system simply stopped screeching, the policemen pulled out, and people slowly returned to their rooms. By then it was seven, too late to go back to bed.

This place is booby trapped and a nightmare. AVOID it, unless you like dragging in to business meetings on four and a half hours' sleep.

It was fine. The pillows were too big for my small frame and the living room furniture was uncomfortable, but overall I liked it. The breakfast was one of the best I have had and flexible.

Of all the Hilton chains, Homewood

Of all the Hilton chains, Homewood Suites is my favorite. And if you're serious about spending time at Six Flags Over Texas, then let me lay out the awesomeness of this hotel. First, you're a 10 minute walk from the front gate. Another way to look at it is that you are five minutes from the parking lot where you would otherwise pay $20 just to leave your car. There is no parking fee at the hotel.Second, the hotel provides a better than continental breakfast, including omelets, hash browns, or waffles. It is a great way to start the day and will help you avoid buying crappy, overpriced food at Six Flags.Third, all the rooms are suites, so you have a separate sitting area and an efficiency kitchen which gives you space to relax and the ability to cook food or store beverages.Lastly, they also provide a light supper Monday through Thursday which ranges from lasagna to mini hamburgers to fajitas. I actually think it qualifies as a full supper because they usually include salad and side dishes.
Mike and I ate breakfast and arrived at the park before the gates opened at 10am. We were able to survive on a couple of pretzels and constant refills of our commerative glass ($1 refills!) until about 4pm when we went back to the hotel for a power nap and light supper. By 6pm we were back at the park and stayed until closing at 10pm. The Homewood Suites made it possible for us to pace ourselves, thoroughly enjoy our day at the park, and not spend too much time and money on crappy, overpriced food at Six Flags. As season pass holders, we went back for a few hours the next day after breakfast…still didn’t have to pay for parking.
