I noticed a great pool area with a slide. Dinner at the "bar" wasn't any better or worse than any other Holiday Inn. Breakfast was in the restaurant and it was a "FULL" sit down and be served breakfast. Very good! This Holiday Inn is a good alternative to staying downtown. It's still close to everything as you're right off the 70, and the prices are much lower. I decided to try the Holidome on a whim (ok, it was the three story waterslide featured on their website). I thought, "how fun". Even though I'm a grown woman who travels to Topeka for business, the inner child in me emerged. I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. Every staff member was attentive and friendly. The pool and waterslide was better than what I had expected. My room was clean (although semi-dated), the TV choices and reception was very good (not the norm in Topeka), and the bedding had fitted sheets with double top sheets. Complaints? It was very clean but not in good working order. We rented the suite with a 2 person jacuzzi tub that would fit two people that are about 80 lbs very tightly. The internet access is not wireless and the ethernet cord was in the living room not one in the bedroom. The pool was closed one complete day. The first day they were having a birthday party and it was not enjoyable. The spas heating element was out and did not work the whole time we were there. The sauna did not work at all. They had booked a school band that began playing at 7:00 in the morning, people were complaining and the front desk said they were pre-booked and people would just have to deal with it. The billing was horrible, there was something wrong with the billing system and they charged our bank account 3 times for the full amount of the room for 4 nights at 200$ a night, definitely not worth that. We were told by the front desk that it had to be a mistake with our bank because they kept getting denied. When I showed them my bank account online, I was told it was definitely a problem with my bank. When the financial person came out to talk to me, she stated I was the 4th person who had complained about this and there was something wrong with the hotels machine and they would get the charges removed and get my account straightened out. The toilet was in a small part of the bathroom, separated from the bathtub with a wall a very tight squeeze for anyone of size, including my 142 lb. son. The people at the front desk the morning of checkout just listeened while making facial gestures. Definitely not a pleasant experience and one that I will not make the mistake again. Nice rooms, friendly employees, room service. In door pool has a huge slide that other peoples children enjoyed! Ate at Michelle's Lounge. The food was awesome and reasonable! Met two new friends there and will definately be returning to stay there again on my next trip to the capitol city! Just can't say enought GOOD THINGS ABOUT OUR STAY!!!! If you are wanting to venture out for shopping or dining. Shopping and the night life are all very close and so is the interstate. Before I knew it, both of our children, ages 7 and 4, found some pornography magazines in a drawer. They had them open in no time not knowing what they were getting into. OMG, I was soo mad. Trying to them explain to them about what they were and WHY there were there was tough. I imediately called the front desk and as they were on the way up to our room, I noticed empty beer cans in the trash. Not from us, obviously. The woman that came to our room was very upset herself and deeply apologized. Because we booked it online they could not give us any discount and therefore did nothing. ARG, this is not over yet, tomarrow I will call the manager just to remind him to have that talk with the cleaning crew. It has been a struggle to say I have been totally happy. On this visit my room was set at 76 degrees and couldn't be cooled off unless I opened my window. Secondly, the Internet access was worthless via a wired or wireless connection. They shouldn't advertise it is even available. The last problem - their meeting rooms were too hot or cold.
