I have stayed at many Holday Inns & all were excellent but I was disappointed by this one because of being in a "shabbier" room - no fan - no extra vanity - no table & chair to relax at, etc - in an area where being remodeled but since this was the 1st time I checked an online registration & had to pay completely up front for the "special". On the good side the person - I believe his name was Enoch was an excellent host. Also, only ate in the dining room once and that was enough - it took "forever" to be waited on. Yes I will stay at a Holiday Inn again BUT I will definitely check it out first. The airline lost my luggage and the front desk was very helpful in accommodating me. We called room service and they sent someone up to look at it. He did and they did not send anyone back to clean it until first thing in the morning. We were looking so forward to our trip and it started out this bad. Then after they cleaned the room, we looked and looked for the remote and it was not there, we did not get new coffee in the room, no more cups (we used the ones the night before.) Then we had breakfast before leaving for the race and spent $20 for the worst breakfast buffet I have ever had. Cold eggs, grease soaked potatoes and burnt bacon. We had to stop at a McDonalds on the way to the race to get full. I won't choose a Holiday Inn again and we take 3 to 4 trips a year. I booked online through Hotwire, so the price was nice. However, I have never been a fan of Holiday Inn and this stay was confirmation. Bugs in the room, overall not very clean, needs fresh coat of paint & bathroom updates. Beds seemed smaller than average, not very comfortable. I needed a sofa for my granddaughter. I was told nothing else was available even though it was a week day night. It had a twin roll-out sofa bed but there were no pillows with it. Then I found that there were no sheets, blankets or towels for three people with the room. All of these had to be called for. The room was not very clean either. This is not something that I would expect from aroomm os this price. The room had a strong moldy smell most probably caused by all the visible mold throughout the room. I was on the first floor, my brother on the 3rd floor experienced the same. I ate breakfast in the restaurant once and will never make that mistake again. I didn't say anything about waiting 20 minutes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant. Or about waiting so long for my order I almost got up and left, but when they brought the wrong breakfast I was more than a little annoyed. What I didn't know is that my sister and her husband had stopped in to eat there earlier that morning and actually got up and left because of the service. I made a 3 minute long distance call to New Jersey from my room, the charge was more than $8. After the first day, the maid only refilled the coffee in the room with decaf, no cream or sugar packets which was not as bad as her walking into the room while I was in it. This was probably a fine hotel for business travelers at one time. Now it is in desperate need of renovation. A couple more years and it will be 'vintage'.
