The courtyard is a wonderful place to enjoy a beautiful morning. The lobby is a bit cramped and could be more guest friendly. We did not use the breakfast offered due to other plans. The wonderful "Drake Diner" is next door and their food is terrific, plus a great place to meet friends. Restaurant next door, Drake Diner, is excellent. Dislikes: We were approached by transients several times in front of the hotel each day of our stay (3 days). Even though it's across the street from the University, it doesn't appear to be a very nice neighborhood. Air conditioner in room didn't cool very well and it made the room very damp. The staff has always been excellent, especially those managers. I, and could be speaking on behalf of many other guests, feel this hotel would be nothing without the property managers. The hotel recently has been renovated, and nothing could be better. From past stays, the rooms were aging, as it normally would, but this is spectacular! The water temp fluxed so badly that I was scalded when someone in another room flushed their toilet. The pillows on the bed were lumpy and old. It was hard - almost impossible - to feel "at home" in this room. It's too bad, the hotel is in a neat location and the outside of the building is beautiful. But that did not make up for the room.
