In more words or less, the stay was not as nice as I would have hoped. The people were just okay.

Cute, great Location, but don't plan on sleepi

We stayed at this hotel in July of 2004 and we were booked for 2 nights. From the outside the building is quite beautiful. It is located about 2 blocks from the pier. Great location! We were really excited when we first pulled up to the hotel. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating!I think the building was a 3-story building with a very old scary elevator. I'm sure it is safe and we got a great laugh out of it.The horror really began when we got to the room. We were really disappointed when we opened the door ... there was a noticeable sigh from both of us. The main problem was the bed and the bathroom. The bathroom and shower were just scary. Stained ... old and decrepit. The building has been around since the 1920's and I think this bed was there then too. It was awful. The headboard was not part of the bed at all. It was a piece of wood screwed into the wall and it was falling out. The bed was sooo uncomfortable. It was simply the worst matress I could ever imagine sleeping on. Literally indescribable. For the money we spent on that room, we expected at least a decent bed.As I said, we were booked for two nights at the Colonial. We were so frustrated and disappointed that we booked at the Hampton Inn for 170.00 a night knowing we wouldn't get a refund for the second night at the Colonial. It was definitely worth the money ... it saved the trip. We laughed about it for days ... just awful awful bed. I still have flashbacks. If you are planning on staying here, inquire about the beds, and be ready for a plain, poorly furnished room.

This was a classy little place that definately had a 1930's feel to it right beside Baywalk in St. Pete.
