As a past resident of Austin i rarely stay downtown, but this hotel had everything we needed for a weekend business trip.
Close to the convention center and entertainment on 6th st.
The rooms were very quiet. The hotel overall lacked a feel of austin for some reason. Seemed a little generic to me.
Did have a dirty area in the room that required cleaning on checkin and it was promtly attended to.
Downstairs bar area and kitchen were open late which was a plus.
Coffee shop in lobby also helpful.
Moonshines bar/grill across the street is one of our favorite spots.
Meetings were going on and the after hours security at the elevators was appreciated.
The hilton overall was a quiet/pleasant stay in a good spot and a decent price.

The only hotel I insist on

I love this hotel. I stay there every year for a conference that should be a nightmare. The people the staff have to deal with... But they treat me like a princess from the moment I walk in the door. They are helpful, friendly, generous... I would never expect this level of service (5 star) from a conference hotel and I refuse to stay anywhere else in Austin.
Because it's a conference there are other options, less expensive. The Hilton books first because of its proximity to the convention center. They needn't be so accommodating and yet, they always are. The rooms are spotless, the service is sincerely warm and friendly, and it all makes for a lovely week, every year.

Will definitely stay here again!

pros: comfort, great staff, poolMy boyfriend and I booked a room here for a weekend on priceline and got a great price! The bedding was ridiculously comfortable and there was a great flat screen tv and ipod player/alarm clock. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and needed our clothes to be pressed. the only con was that we thought we were going to be able to walk to 6th street but didn't want to walk that far (it's really not that far but there's a bridge) however, the cab ride wasn't expensive at all. The pool was really nice as well, i believe it was a saltwater pool and is literally next to the river. I will definitely stay here the next time im in town.

Great location.Shower was ridiculous. Knocked so loud you could not hear the TV if you were in the room.“Beautiful hotel in a great location. Had shuttle service to the UT game - definite plus! Need plumbing assistance our shower knocked, as did others that we could hear as we walked down the corridor. Sounded like air in the pipes the whole time we were there.”

It had a cool gift shop. The staff was less then inviting, and they gave up wrong directions twice.“The facility was nice, what you would expect from a Hilton. The parking there was really a pain and way too expensive. The staff was not inviting and couldn't give directions.”
