On the second night my husband noticed an object protruding from under the bed skirt in the bedroom. This was in one of the suites. Spoke to the manager and she said that items were "overlooked" by housekeeping staff and offered to refund ONE night of our stay. We checked out of the hotel and I will NEVER stay there again. Also, they don't have dvd players. The hotel is located in a HIGH CRIME area of Tampa. We checked in, and drove a mile down the street (Fletcher Ave) to a convience store. We were offered crack for sale in the parking lot. Then we spend one night in this Hampton Inn, and received a call from the front desk at 7:30am. Our truck, and 6 other cars in the Hampton parking lot, had been broken into. There were NO security cameras in the parking lot. We were offered NO apology whatsoever. They even made us pay our full rate for our rooms (we had reserved 2 rooms, with 2 cars travelling in my party, and BOTH cars were broken into). The hotel referred us to its insurance co, who then denied any liability for the hotel. We also found out that there is NO SECURITY ON THE PREMISES. This hotel hires an outside security company, just so they can claim they have it. We contacted this company and were told that they only patrol 5% of their time, and they have 30 other buildings to split that 5% between. So there is absolutely NO SECUIRITY at this hotel at all. I was here partly on business. My wife and infant son were with me and we shared a two bed closet, literally. The small size of the room is not as bad as the carpet, which looked clean but was FILTHY. My poor baby's feet were black only after one quick crossing across the floor in bare feet. My schedule made it really difficult to make a room change, so we suffered through it and put socks on the baby's feet. It looks nice on the outside, but once you're in it seems depressing. Luckily we were moving on the following day. We stayed in a King suite. The price point was excellent. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
