This hotel was one of the worst I have ever been in. It is advertised as a brand new Best Western Hotel. It was obvious when we arrived that the building was at least 20 years old and had most likely been an extended-stay apartment unit prior to being taken over by Best Western chain. The pool was sparkling blue, however we were forbidden from using it because as we were told, it was closed for the season. Folks this was Labor Day weekend, 95 degrees out side and the hotel was full to max. When pressed, management told us their insurance policy forces them to close for the season beining Sep 1st. I suspect that their insurance lapsed and they were no willing to take a chance with swimmers. Our room was old and out-dated, Big "no smoking" sign on door yet there were three Best Western ashtrays in the room and it reeked of smoke. The room was also infested with fleas and there were signs that a cat was a resident in the room for an extended period of time in the past. The desk workers were friendly, but told me and several others how badly she wanted to go home for the day but couldn't leave till the end of her shift. The second encounter with the desk clerk was at check out where the incompetence lead to a decline on my credit card becuse she could not figure out how to ring up three rooms on one charge. She tried it so many times, each time holding a "reserve" that it reached my credit limit even before paying for one room, declining the card. It was only my suggestions, and thankfully a second credit card, that allowed me to complete the sale and end the nightmare. Save the greif and go across the street to the Holiday Inn.
