Don't ever stay here!!

I stayed at the Grenville, this past weekend, as part of a wedding party. My room was small and dirty and not worth the price. The website description states that each room has individual heating and air conditioning. The air conditioner was free-standing on a makeshift wood stand and made so much noise that I had to turn up the volume on the TV in order to hear anything. The bathroom was disgusting and the plumbing barely worked. The quality of my room was not my biggest concern, though. The bride stayed in the suite next to my room. While looking for an outlet, the bride found an open syringe filled with liquid behind the couch. A questionable pill was also found under a desk in the room. Upon further inspection, we found two vials of fentanyl (an opiod analgesic that has become popular in the news due to frequent over-doses). The manager was immediately called and he had the nerve to say he was busy!!! Needless to say, the police were called and an officer gathered the evidence. The bride was told that she could have a different room but that they were all much smaller so she was better off staying where she was. No apologies…nothing! This hotel seems like it had charm at one point but the management has declined severely. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I took my husband for brunch here

I took my husband for brunch here expecting it to be a real treat Quite frankly it was a letdown. The Quality of the food left a lot to be desired and they over charged for what they offered. The waffles were soggy and the French toast was tasteless. The staff is totally disorganized. Any one who knows me knows that I'm no neat freak and I found the windows to be grimy and the rugs to be threadbare. I do not recommend it.

Never will Return

Never again will I even think of staying in this hotel. Wife, young son and myself had checked in on a Saturday night in April with no reservation, we were just in town visiting a friend. Walked in the front lobby and had numerous people watching us standing there but no one seamed to care to attend to us. Finally a woman came to help, we asked for a room for the night, she 1st had said no vacancy but then came back and told us that we can have a room but not until 3:30pm. This sounded fine to us but we just wanted to see a room before we committed, She said this was not possible but it was a 4 star room and we wouldn't be disappointed. We Went out for a while and returned about 4:30pm only to find the room not ready. Was told it would be a few more minutes. We proceeded to go up to the 3rd floor to wait only to see two men removing boxes of personal belongings from the room. We had later learned that this was being occupied by one of the managers for the winter months. ????????
Wow what a perk get paid to live on site.
Finally room had been cleaned so we thought!!! We were in a hurry to get in and meet a friend for dinner and didn't have a chance to look over room. We returned later that evening only to find a party going on in the lobby which was full of cigar smoke." I thought that was illegal in the state of NJ?"
Also had no parking, had to park two blocks over. Preceded to the Room found the pull out coach to be loaded with crumbs, Under the Queen bed also had crumbs and empty water bottles. Managers Cloths in the dresser draw, Shade that wouldn’t stay open and a window that could be only held open by a stick. This is not safe and considered a hazard by any standards, noisy air conditioner unit this was similar to a dehumidifier. Bathroom was OK but small but some of the towels were not by any means clean.
One more thing I would like to add....
When I also say this place is a fire hazard the main reason was you can't easily get down the stairs since this was blocked with a chair, laundry baskets and other crates, which I believe, were removed from my room.
This was such a bad experience and a disappointment. This hotel gives a bad name to such a wonderful town such as Bayhead.

The Grenville Hotel & Restaurant was

The Grenville Hotel & Restaurant was just what the doctor ordered when my family and I went to the Jersey Shore in the summer. We wanted a place that was close to the beach as possible. This hotel in Bay Head, NJ isn't hard to miss with its pink exterior.

Upon entering the establishment, I could already feel the charm of the place. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. Since we were there in the month of July, we took advantage of their summer special and booked a nice, family suite. I'm glad we did because we managed to get nice rooms for the price we paid. Plus, they were very clean, which is always a concern wherever we go.

The rooms aren't very big like you would expect from a hotel chain. Instead it has a very charming quality to make it feel like you are entering a bedroom. We managed to get separate rooms within the suite so our son felt he had some privacy as well.

This place also provides beach badges for you to enter the beach that is just behind the hotel. They also provide towels in case you need any. Just don't lose the beach badge or you'll be paying $250.00 for each of them.

The restaurant looked very elegant and well set-up. The attraction is eating outside on the deck watching the people go by. A swimming pool is also included in this hotel.

My only gripe was the parking. They didn't have a lot like other places for people to park their vehicles. We had to park on the street hoping to find a close place near the hotel. If you tried to find one during the day, it was next to impossible as people came early to park and go to the beach.

Overall, it was a very relaxing stay at the Grenville Hotel and I'm glad to know a place at the Jersey Shore that I would have no problem going back to in the future.

PROS: Charming and relaxing place
CONS: Parking is hard to find during the day
