We stayed at the hotel when we arrived and had reservations for when we returned to Guatemala City. On our way to the hotel we called to confirm our reservation they had cancelled our reservation. They had not called our cell phone or given any notice. Later we found they had done the same thing to another church mission group! This was very disappointing because the reservations had been made months in advance. Now we are afraid to stay in this lovely hotel for fear the same thing will happen. In fact we did not find out until late in the evening after a long day of ministry. It is located behind tikal futura shopping mall you have everything u can think of right next to it!! the ppl at the hotel are great! everyone is super nice everyone is very acomidating. the hotel is very well kept. They had satellite TV, so my husband was able to watch football :). The fitness center and pool are excellent, although there is no outdoor pool. What is very convenient is the hotel is connected to a mall, and the movie theatre is across the street. The mall is very similiar to what you would find in any US mall, so it is not the place for souvenir shopping. The breakfast buffet was excellent, as was our dinner in the hotel restaurant. However, the A/C was not working properly. Maintenance was fantastic - I did not mind lending an assist and this little guy then knocked himself out to make sure that any and every little old thing about my suite was taken care of in an eyeblink the rest of my stay. The hotel was immaculate, the staff courteous & everpresent - but unobtrusive. The hotel restaurant had excellent selections and it was my first experience with Guatemala's native beer - great ale! The convenient location to the on-site convention center (I had flown down for a dog show, and the hotel provided armed security for our dogs) and the megashopping complex was wonderful. Sight seeing arrangements by hotel staff made everything so easy. It is absolutely incredible. It is amazing to see the staff treat you like royalty, feed you incredible food, and then stay in rooms fit for a king. I don't know why anyone would want to stay anywhere else. I have to mention the staff again. It seems that everyone from the bellman to the room service people, to the waiters...they all have one thing in mind...making sure that your stay is unforgettable. We happen to be there for an adoption, and it was a safe, loving place to meet our new child. It was large enough to play soccer inside and wonderful enough to have a spectacular view of Guatemala City. There was also a concert almost every month and the laundry service is excellent, not to exclude the food and shopping center attached to the hotel. We were wonderfully surprised by the hotel. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable, the sheets were the nicest I've ever been on in a hotel.
