This is a very nice hotel. I love that the rooms have a fridge and microwave and are all oceanfront. I also like that they are located on the boardwalk. My only complaint is the food at their restaurant is ok. The breakfast is terrible and the the lunch was good. I can't speak for the dinner as they are not open when we are there. We went to the reservation desk to find we had a smoking rooom for three days.I called the online travel agency and spoke to a respresentative rather than booking on line as we wanted to make sure it was a non smoking room, as my husband has had three heart attacks and open heart surgery and cannnot be around smoke. No other rooms available. They never offered to help us find any other accomodations. Turned out they were both booked into the same room1 How does that happen? Our second day there management informed us that "we don't think we charged you enough" Even though we had a paid receipt. We were told they would get back to us-which they never did. When we got our credit card statement the next month we found that had charged us an additional $178. Totally unprofessional, and completely inexcusable!! To be honest, we have stayed at the Grand for five years-because we really love the location. And each year service has gone slightly downhill. This was our last year!! Our room had a wet carpet, so wet when you stepped on it there was water visable!! Contacting maintenance & was told they would get back to me - went to the desk about an hour later (midnightish) and the ONE person there was asleep in the office, and I couldn't get her attention! Left a note and no-one called - went to the desk in the morning and they knew nothing, and offered to do nothing.... On the rates - I called and was quoted two rates - one for Saturday and one Sunday... upon check in I was told that it was the same rate for Saturday and Sunday... only if I checked in on Sunday would I get that rate! Then when I checked out because of the wet carpet they weren't supposed to charge me the full amount - gave me a receipt that said one thing then they charged my credit card for the full amount!!! UGGGhhhh... Of course no one is available to discuss this at 2pm (not sure why) so I'm waiting for a call back...
